Description Rodney Copperbottom again!

I think this is my best drawing of him yet @_@ Well, of an almost full body shot of him that is The original drawing was all the way to Rodney's ankles, but... The legs looked horrible. So I cut em when I photoshopped this XD heh heh... Sorry Rodney >.>;

His face looks kinda wonky, but I still like it O_o hmmf...

Nyeh, Hope everyone likes it :3 I worked hard on it. ^_^

God, I saw this on ~rivet-town and I thought I had commented but obviously I forgot -_- well I'm going to comment now

I like this, it's really nicely drawn, the picture looks sweet and the way you portrayed him is very true to the character. The colour scheme works well too, the tones of blue are very pleasing and emphasise the metallic texture of him a little more. I really love the style, it looks a little messy, but in a good way - some people draw messily naturally and learn how to make that messy look work well for them and it looks like that's what you've done here. Maybe I'm wrong, but either way it looks nice!

One thing that bothers me a little is a slight textural effect, which looks like the scanner has picked up some paper texture. I couldn't see it in the small view but I can see it in fullview so perhaps you could try and fix it up and smooth it out a little? A few touches here and there could do a lot for this image and give Rodney even more of a metallic texture than he already has!

Another thing that bugs me is some of the colours around him. The blue tones outlining the character are nice, but why not make the whole page blue? By making the background colour a flat white with a character surrounded in blue placed on top of the white, it almost looks as though he is sinking into a background, whereas you want him to stand out [I'm guessing?]. A soft blue background to match the blue outline around his figure would probably help! The white looks far too bold and overpowering to me.
I'm also not keen on the pattern behind the text. The tones are a little distracting and detract attention from Rodney. We don't need to see pretty text, we want to see the character in all his splendour so really I can't see much point in decorating the text. If I were you I'd do away with that decoration, allowing the viewer's eye to focus more on your lovely rendition of Rodney instead.

I really do like the way you've drawn him, I can't draw Rodney at all but he looks very nice here. The details are all very intricate, yet without making him look cluttered which must have been tricky to pull off. The way you drew his eyes looks really sweet as well, and his expression is classic. Nice work! With a little touching up, I think it could look better still <3

Wow! Thank you so much! I've never gotten a comment so long, nor one so complimetary or intricate. It means a lot XD

First I would like to say thank you again, I'm really glad to know at least some people like my art @_@ Sometimes I submit something i've worked so hard on, and days later i'll check my messages and I still have none, with about 3 views. x_X Just a little depressing...

Okay, second. About the effect you noticed, it was actually put there on purpose when I edited the picture I agree it looks bad, but... I just left it there XD I was trying to make it look... Well I don't exactly know what I was going for... I guess I was just playing with effects? Amazing someone noticed it though XD

Hmm, and then about the background. I thought the same thing! O_o And I HAD a light blue background on it at one point too, ironically. But too me that also looked kind of weird... I didn't know what to do so I earased the background, (Forgot to use layers while first making the background @_@) Thus leaving the blue-ish glow x_x I knew it didn't look to peachy but... What can I say, I can be lazy? X_X I think I want to do another drawing similar to this, make it a little less-sketchy. You're right, my style is a mit messy. It's because i'm pretty much just a sketch artist Actually I don't even know XD It's just my style? Who knows. I'm too lazy and bad at inking things in that I just never do, but I like my sketch work better. Whenever I ink something it always seems like the whole picture and drawing has been lost, and I just throw it away.

Lastly... yeah, the text... Again I didn't know what to do with it, but a plain white background with only the picture... no real "background image"... It was WAY too over-powering. So I added a little text... and... the effects around it... which do look dumb. XD I guess if I ever do fix this up i'll do something about that

Anyway, you made my day XD I'm glad you liked it :3

PS- I love your icon... Your character is so cute, with such a cool design. I really like your style too

I hate that - I have the same thing happen to me so I can relate to how you feel. And do you find that people tend to give you the most praise for your crappiest work, whilst stuff you've slaved over for days and days gets little to no recognition? Its so discouraging x.x;

"Whenever I ink something it always seems like the whole picture and drawing has been lost, and I just throw it away."

I often find that too - my style is scrappy and messy and when I try to force it into being neat, it often doesn't work, so an inked sketch looks wrong, it looks like I've tried to force myself to draw something that doesn't come naturally and I think the strain to do that often shows in the picture. I know I'd much rather throw a lot of paints and colours about and try to make a big bunch of messy splodges that looks like something nice than try and make intricate painstaking little details! >;D

YES! That happens ALL THE TIME. I hate it so much @_@ And I don't understand it =.= I think some of it because I tend to draw things that people don't like. Like I could work for hours on a picture of Buzz Lightyear, from Toy Story... And it could be a great drawing, but people wouldn't care. But if I drew say... GIR from Invader Zim, people would eait it up with comments, because people love GIR. Myself- I love Dib to death. But anyway, it is quite depressing when that happens @_@

And I also agree with how you feel about inking stuff in :/ Whenever I ink my stuff in, I lose the details that were in the sketch. It's more fun to just mess around with color like you said I usually try to keep my sketch lines clean so I can scan it and mess with color on my computer... But i'm really starting to hate computer generated art, so i'm trying to do more traditional coloring >_< And, i'm one of those people who doesn't mind messy coloring, I think it looks nice XD (Messy in a good way :/ )

Yeah I remember this one time I slaved for hours and hours on a picture of my characters and it got about 2 comments, then I uploaded fanart for some cartoon that took about 30 minutes and it got loads of comments *SIGH.*

You could always scan in the sketch, then colour the original by hand, and then you'll always have the sketch saved if you mess up the hand drawn copy... and you could always submit the sketches to scraps as well, so people can see what they looked like prior to colouring if they want :b
