Description
As you may have noticed I've been on a MOTU kick lately!
Tonight I finished up on the main man himself Skeletor! I too picked him up at the flea market and he had no weapons but still his armor. I really didn't care much about the sword but he needed a Havok staff!
I also wanted this piece to have the cape he wore in the 2002 series which to me made him look even more like an evil badass!
lots of paint and detailing went inot him but now he proudly stands with my MOTU legion of villians.

I remember how well um....lame he looked in the original cartoon(can't remember the update) and must say that seeing a cool looking version of skeletor is a very nice surprise....never paid attention to the series though....

If ya get a chance chec kout the new toon they make Skeletor into one evil sumbitch! And even worse than him is Hordak. Very cool show that got killed before it had a chance to reaaly get on its feet. (BTW season 3 is amazing!)

I think its kind of odd how hes always been really buff, yet his face isn't even skin and bones, just bones. At least Mumra had a reason for being buff.

Sit back and take a load off its ORIGIN TIME:
Skeletors real name is Keldor. Keldor and his followers decided to make an attack on the Eternian high councils chambers and claim the power that that they held (which will become the power of He Man ). Before he had his chance he was stopped by Captain Randor (later King, and He Mans dad) and Man at Arms. In the battle Keldor tosses a bottleof acidic material at Randor. Randor deflects it with his shield and as he hits it splashed on Keldors face. Keldor is horribly disfigured but not dead and is taken by Evil Lynn to the dark demi god Hordaks temple. Since Hordak has been bound by the council into another dimension of exile he can only communicate through temples made in his image. Skeletor is taken there and pledges his allegiance to Hordak to prepare for his second coming. Hordak uses what power he has left in Eternia and renders the remaining flesh from Keldors face and cahnges his body into who is now known as Skeletor.
Skeletors head is not attached to anything. It is infact a flaoting skull held by evil magics. Being a rather pretty boy when he was a man Skeletor covers this with the hood thus mainly hiding his face and the emptiness inside of the hood.

This long cape reminds me of the live action movie version starring Frank Langella, which in my opinion is the BEST Skeletor design, and my favorite more than any other.
A friend of mine once told me that Jean "Moebius" Giraud did the concept art for the costumes, but I never looked into it.

Movie Skeletor was the shit! I loved that design make him look nice and menacing, and Langella made him an evil sumbitch to boot!

It was on Cartoon Network. The dvd's are out now. Maybe do a search on you tube to see if you like it. If you do, you might as well the dvd box set.
