How so? Β (If you do not know the mechanics of a proper push kick, maybe it would look strange to you?)
Did you account for the hips moving forward? Β I filled it in to show the hips position after thrusting forward (the whole lower body moves forward a bit.) Β
The line on the middle of the back also is supposed to suggest this end position. Β Lastly, note that the legs is the right leg, and the foot is angled outward slightly to better "catch" the inner thigh. Β

That first counter looks like you have to see the kick coming a mile away. Unless your push kick happens to be as fast as the No-Shadow Kick. =3
Not that I've done any sparring, but I kind of enjoy seeing kicks stopped before they even start up by stepping down on the opponent's foot just as they are trying to lift it.
For some reason, I think I'd really enjoy a raepface study or just a regular sketch dump for your next thing.

Not really. Same way a boxer watches the chest or shoulders of their opponent for the beginnings of a punch, anyone who sees enough kicks (and practices their own) can shut them down whenever they want. It helps that a push kick is linear while a roundhouse is not. You do have to have some training of course, but it's a highly effective maneuver. I've both performed it and received it.
Also, speed is nowhere near important if you can grasp timing. You can move as slow as you want if you know when to. I have been beaten many times by people slower than me, because they knew when and what to do. Similarly, I can do slower techniques on those new and fresh because they lack experience.
One of the techniques I was going to draw -but obviously didn't- was how you can catch a roundhouse in the air with a well-timed hook kick and force an opponent to spin around off balance, or throw them to the ground.
lol what??? You mean the expressions sketch dump?
