Description AND I HAVE FINALLY COMPLETED THIS BADASS

DOWNLOAD FOR FULL SIZE

Hope, he's okay to go like this ; 7 ;
His size is 23 feet up to the top of his head, anything higer us just his horns which I just don't count.
Had lots of fun making a semi-realistic design of the original designs.

Also - here is some headcanons I have about Electric dragons:
I like to think that, while they are very, very spikey, most of their spikes aren't actually solid/hard, but more flexible, similar to bird feathers, though definitely more firm.
I also like to think that a lot of parts of the dragon are made up of some kind of biomaterial that grows hard or soft depending on how current/electricity is applied to it
Similar to for example the fabric of batman's wings in batman begins with Christian Bale - apply current and it gets hard, reapply current and it gets soft - just that electric dragons need to apply constant electricity to those particular parts of their bodies to keep it solid, or at least some parts
Like for example their wings - specifically the "bones" on the most outer part. They can be soft and allow for perfect curling/wrapping up when they sleep to and provide some minor protection, yet when hardened provide something akin to a hardened shield if necessary. And when they need to fly, that part gets hardened to provide the necessary support for air currents.
This also keeps many of their body parts lightweight, allowing for easier flight in general as strong/rough/hard material often comes with a lot of weight. (Heavy armor isn't heavy for nothing, right? xD) So with this their build is light, yet very robust.
However this has also a downside! If a dragon gets exhausted/depletes energies, it can't fly nor protect itself like usually.
Another interesting thing about this, is the fact that
conscious change of electric currents within the body are easy, allowing for the body to become easier to maneuver and control in overall. So for example, if they need to squeeze through a rather small hole during flight, they can just make their wings go soft, use the momentum given to fly through the hole, then reharden their wings when they've passed through. This makes them overall exquisitely agile during flight, even with their slightly bigger size.
However, in my head this is probably the most common reason of death to elder electric dragons as well. As they grow older, they lose the ability to control the electricity properly, leading to possible problems midflight. An unlucky elder dragon will lose his ability to fly while above the abyss and fall to their death.

Very nice work! Love all the spines and the details in the wings. Very clean ref sheet, too! My favorite thing is how you drew the horns and the helmet-like formation on his head.

Nero~ You're all grown up now~
//stares at all of the details on your wings... amg

and lol shin your thoughts about electric dragons are very realistic and detailed like woahhh, trying to wrap my head around everything, but I think the part where their bones being flexible sound very possible but yeahhh never really thought of it until you pointed it out...//wheeze

I had lots of fun doing the design

Eeehh, don't mind me. I'm a sucker for stuff like that. Getting presented with something and then thinking of how that might possibly work, thinking of explanations as to why and so on and so forth. I also thought since, HEY, I'm doing a semi realistic look for the Dragon, I might as well throw in my headcanons, because they are semi realistic as well.

I also have a lot of ideas about Electric Dragon societal rankings and behaviour. Or about male/female builds or genetic influences, yadda yadda yadda I'm really a sucker for this kind of thing sadfsf

well I have no idea if it's going to be used or seen as legit or whatever, but as long as there isn't any official information on that, my brain is going to wander automatically xD
