No, he didn't even know he had a kid. When Storm was left for dead by the cons, she was recovered by the Autobots, and they tried to fix her up, but failed, but during their scans they found a sparkling, so they just saved the sparkling since they couldn't do anything more for Redstorm, and it wasn't until Volt was five that they found out that his father creator was alive. And this is when Sparklight first learns of him
