Description
Text (c) Boz Scaggs, Neil Sedaka, the Lovin' Spoonful, Sting/The Police, Vladimir Nabokov, Gary Puckett, Abba, Urge Overkill, and Stephen Sondheim
So I'm taking a class on the novels of Vladimir Nabokov, and we're reading Lolita at the moment. And we got an assignment to create a visual representation of the novel.
Well, I don't know if you know, but Vladimir Nabokov and I share a neurological "disorder" (literally a disordering of responses in the brain) called
synesthesia
, which affected his perceptions, and the way he wrote, and affects the way I read and think about things. Specifically, as seen in this piece, I see audio as color and shape.
Now this is not to say that I don't also hear. I like to describe it by asking people if they've seen Ratatouille: specifically
this scene
. That's kind of what happens in my head when I hear things. It's an involuntary association of one kind of sensory stimulation to another.
So, I decided, why not use that? I mean, somebody had already done a Venn Diagram of the novel, so... (ugh).
Songs (top to bottom):
