Well, XYL is in Alternate Universe according to the head writer, and Sally wasn't exactly happy with the marriage, Neither was Shadow, who married her so her could have a legit claim to the throne.
Also, XYL blows chunks.

Ah, the old nudity argument. First off, the male characters are the same. Sally's fur covers her just as well as the male characters' does. If she were like Amy or Rouge, and had no fur on her front, then yes, she would need to wear more. On top of this, Fiona and Nic used to do the same, and while Fiona wears more now, I'm not sure if Nic does.
Basically, female characters like Amy, Rouge, etc wear clothing because if they didn't they'd flash everyone whenever they went outside. On the other hand, Sally doesn't do that, so can get away with it.

Ultimately it all comes down to what you saw first. I was first exposed to the series via AoSTH and SatAM. Therefore, Sally was the earliest female Sonic character who A: was recurring and B: had an impact. In SatAM, she was the leader, and was portrayed that way. She made decisions, made the plans (Except for in 'Droodhenge', where Tails made the plan) curbed Sonic's impatience, and was, in general, a brilliant strong female lead. Contrast Sonic X, which was my second exposure, where there were three lead females. Cream, who was annoying, pointless, and generically sweet and innocent, Rouge who was, let's be honest, created in SA2 purely for fanservice, and Amy, who was annoying, crazy, and really? The most recognised female character is no longer this upstanding, strong, intelligent figure, but a whiny, ditzy, overtly aggressive, stereotypical one who's sole reason to be is get Sonic's dick. Even though he's tried everything short of outright saying "FUCK OFF" to dissuade her.
Perhaps now you can understand my viewpoint. Aside from the nudity thing, which we have already been into, please describe yours. There is no need for this to turn into a flamewar.

i don't care for the comic story line. i follow the story the games create. even though some have loose 1 shot stories you can still connect them.
