Hi Deviantart!Here's some of the artwork I've been working on for AnimeUSA's 2013 convention! They're exploring kind of an Edo theme this year, so I've been asked to put the mascot, Kaede, into some nice scenic compositions inspired by woodcut prints. This was pretty tough to work on but I think it turned out well!

Made with lots of different leads on bristol, colored in photoshop!

it's so beautiful. I wish i could celebrate hanami but i can't since i don't have a parck full of sakura trees in my home town.

I love this painting. Like others have already said it's really soft and beautiful and that's why I like it so much.
I particularly like the look on the woman's face, and how well it blends with the cherry blossoms. To me it actually make the whole image to look somewhat tragic, like the woman is really sad about something and she came out here to think about what's eating her.
I'm not sure if that was your intent but that's what I got from it.

BAM! In your face Art Nouveau feel. Pops out wonderfully, very bold and colourful and yet still maintaining a safe palette. Her ear seems a bit odd unless that's by design, and the same feeling with her shoulders and neck being so incredibly far apart. Subjectively, I love your take on that stylization, as it seems appropriately otherworldly. Forcing the petals and tree to be more central really lends to the feeling of the character being encapsulated by her surroundings, which makes it seem as though she wants to become more a part of her surroundings. This is incredibly soft without losing definition, and I can't help but utterly love it. I can't find any real flaws. 0.o
