Description A combination of the fairytale "The Six Swans" and a japanese folks tale of "The Crane Wife".

Instead of swans, I replaced them with cranes. In both stories it tells about a women sewing for the men so I thought I could try combining both of them in a way to show a relation.

Wasn't it the story of the Eleven Swan Princes? And the last sibling was a girl that made clothes out of poison-ivy so that they may be released from their curse?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 4

BananAdopt In reply to Madda-Archive [2012-07-20 18:36:10 +0000 UTC]

there's a grimm version and a hans christian anderson version. One with 11 one with 6. They're both the same story but the one with 11 is written prettier haha. And ends just a little sadder. There is also a story called the four ravens that is basically the same story as well. Only in that one no shirts simply a vow not to talk.

Because fairy tales traveled by word of mouth the had a habit of changing lol. Hence the variations. For example in the Hans Christian Anderson version I read it was translated as nettles rather than poison ivy. Interestingly I think in almost every version her youngest brother is left with one wing instead of an arm.

As you may remember, I asked you if I might use these lines for the coloring contest I planned on holding this summer, and you said that I may. Summer is almost upon us, so I am starting to set up for the contest As such, these lines are now being featured in the following locations:

I anticipate that this contest is going to have an amazing turn out, and I am really excited about it. Perhaps you can help to spread the word as well, to help generate prizes and participation. Thanks for entering my contest last year, and thanks for letting me use your lines. They are truly great.

Hello, I am contacting you now because I want to propose something. As you may remember, the winner of my line art contest was to be used in the coloring contest. You were very close to winning that pleasure. My coloring contest, however, is being postponed and made bigger and better due to a combination of my being too busy at the tail end of my Master's program, and a somewhat low number of entries. (I only got 12 this year when I usually get close to 60 entries) There are a lot of reasons for the lack of success in the coloring contest this year, but rather than get into that, I want to focus on making it better. My plan is to accept whatever entries come in before the original final entry day, then pause the contest until the start of summer, and start it up again with more line arts, more prizes, and allowing for more entries. My proposal is that i will use the original winning lines, along with the two sets of lines that were within a point or two away from winning. Yours was one of those. So my question for you is this: may i use your lines for my summer 2012 coloring contest? I haven't got an exact time line for the contest yet, but if you are okay with this, i will keep you updated.

Hi,
Yea of course. I'll be happy to let you use my lines for your summer 2012 coloring contest . Sorry to hear that there isn't much entries this time though but I do enjoy seeing the latest coloring entries so far
Hope your plan turns out great

Incredibly original! I like how you didn't choose a traditional, well-known fairy-tale for the contest; rather you merged two much more obscure ones! Both of these stories I haven't heard since I was much younger, and you have presented them in a beautiful yet flowing manner. (Does that make sense ?)

The detail and time you put into this is amazing. Your perspectives are unique and intriguing, and the detail of the feathers is awesome. The hair is very realistic, and I love the added detail of the hair-band. Her costume is simple, yet eye-catching, and the detail you put into the wrinkles is awesome.

Stupid question time: Is that "river" water or blood? Either way, it's incredibly detailed and well drawn.

Oh, your placement of all the subjects is wonderful. Your eyes continue to travel around the picture, rather then focus on a specific piece

Fabulous job!

Hi thank you very much for your kind comment I'm always happy to hear how someone sees my artworks through their own eyes and opinions

It's supposingly a river water but as always this could change into a dark story if you were to have it / see it as blood XD Cause blood could also represent the hard work that the princess/ the girl has to go through in order to save all 7 of her brothers and she's not to speak a word until she's done.

very cool ... but you know they have a book called seven waters, which tells the story of seven children? being that the six men are cursed and seventh daughter, to stop the curse has to do murtagem shirts made โ€‹โ€‹of (a plant) and vestilos. this is the only way to save them. is a great book, I recommend!
