First about the actual piece... I really wanted to draw him more... mentally unstable looking XD I saw a lot of commissioned works where he looked more melancholy, thoughtful and sad, but reading his story... I had to try XD I also played around with his circlet a little, kind of wanted to make a centerpiece that looked like it was coming unwoven (hope that's okay `Saimain ) Same thought behind his hair and hairpieces, and the design on his cuffs... WEEE! I had fun XD Oh yea and I guess the chain shape could be considered significant as well, but it was instinctual XD Regular chains didn't look right.

Now for a disclaimer of sorts XDD

Well, this was supposed to be a simple sketch commission for `Saimain of her character Luke, who I love (pretty much say that about all of them actually LOL) but well, you can see it went a LITTLE FURTHER THEN THAT. Justalil.

So when I started this I was really excited, like I haven't felt for a while (it was the point of all this after all, so i guess it worked!) and i wanted to put all these SUBTLE concepts in it and stuff, which happens often when a character I get to draw has such a rich story behind them... and then i realized i was doing way too much LOL.

So I tossed it to the side and was like SKETCH. SKETCH. LIKE I HAD TO DO LAST TIME WITH FAEREN. Which was painful to restrain myself doing. LOL

Then I remembered when I bought my database not long ago the guy advised me to advertise myself in the fantasy genre, he said my style would do well there, that I should do some color images of fantasy things rather than just black and white.

And LO! I have a true fantasy character to draw! XD Since I don't have any of my own. Luke has a very interesting story as well that I felt I really had to include in this somehow.
So pretty much long story short, I need a fantasy piece in my portfolio and I think I'm gonna use this one, if `Saimain doesn't mind of course ; )

I'm gonna do the other two sketch commissions first before I paint this one though, since the commissioned part of this one is done XD

I'm trying to keep all these of equal detail, but obviously as you read, this is an exception XD the rest will be like the others were, unless I randomly have some inclination for a second fantasy piece in my portfolio that is inspired by one of your characters XDDD
