~eviltsd XDmy roommate, for drawing class.
i didnt mean to have her all enveloped in darkness, just kind lost track of what i was doing >.< oh well! im please with how her face came out, shes got a very unique look to her so i was very careful with it.

for this piece i use graphite powder for the background, a rubber eraser, a .7 lead pencil for everything except the tiny detail hairs, for which i used a .3 lead pencil ^_^

How did you do that?! The fine hairs especially.. The texture and shadows are perfect. Your girlfriend must have been amazed to see this! You managed to really capture someone, not just the prim perfect exterior. Not that I'm calling your girlfiend ugly, NONONONO! Far from it! But hopefully you understand what I'mm getting at and if you don't, then it's a very good thing!

thank you so much for your detailed comment! not confusing no! i understood every word ^_^ i can tell you one special thing i did for this picture! i used a .3 lead pencil for the fine hairs. very hard to find though....other then that, i actually did this from the combination of two pictures and from memory more than anything. she wouldnt sit still for me XD and the photos i took of her really werent her at all. in fact this i still feel, is not as good a representation of her as i would have hoped. shes much prettier.... but i feel like this is the one piece that ive finally figured out how to capture a person and not just a picture.

No problem ^^ I often look for 0.3 pencils, and I still to this day haven't found one. Funny thing is, apparently in the UK, they are quite numerous. -has a friend there- She might hook me up with some ^^ I'm even more amazed now that you did some of this by memory...man... 
This is definitely more than just a picture, you've crammed a whoooole person in there. Makes me think about Prince Albert being in a can... -never quite understood the joke- It always makes me think of a little man in a can o' peas.

She looks lit from a window, maybe a window that had rain, and the light is dappling her face. Very nice work on the subtle shadows of her glasses on her face. It's the tiny details like that that really make your art work.

your ablity to do human faces and expressions is remarkable - some of the best i've ever seen, and i've seen a lot - it's not just a respresentation of the person, but it catches the person as they are as much as a photograph would or being there looking at the person - just amazing
