Description A new ink and watercolour painting, created as a commission for a friend of mine. This piece took about 9 hours to complete!

Ink and watercolour on cold-pressed paper, 7" x 10"

A few details:
The pose was referenced from this photograph of an elephant statue, by nparab: [link]
I used a wide variety of other photo reference to try to make the elephant look more life-like in the painting. A very tricky project!

Thanks!! I was ready to hit my head against the table after a couple of hours of drawing lines. I was pencilling them all first, for a while, before I realized I was being a crazy person. Then I switched to only pencilling in the main ones, and went straight to ink on the little guys. And I filled in my grays with marker, as I went, before I added the watercolour, so I could see what the heck was happening. Whew!
