This is a gorgeous piece of art to look at. I love the colors used to make the beetle so realistic. The shades of light and dark and textured areas on this piece really stand out most to me - I love how the droplets of water are shining! One thing to improve on would be the background - as the beetle looks more detailed than the background, so adding more detail around it in the leaves and wood would make the piece look more finished. Apart from that, you've done an awesome job and I can tell you spent a long time on it.

Thank you so much for the critique, I put this one out there for opinion as this is the first one using SAI and layering technique. I did subdue the background to highlight the focus on the beetle itself, this is a common technique for making the metallic come through in great contrast, ordinarily if the background had more detail the highlights would appear drab.
