Markings: Deep red markings over much of her back, some of her shoulders and the top of her head ("helmet" style). Likely has a dark brown, almost black, liver colored mask on her face, but it is almost entirely obscured by her white markings. White covers much of face (offset to one side), all of her neck and chest, tapering to a stop just before the end of her ribcage. Also has white paws on all four feet but the markings are different for each one.
Pads: three liver/pink/tan, rear left pads are pink on the far toe and dark brown/black on all the other toes
Eye Color: Odd- left eye is red/brown, right eye is bright blue

Discipline: Most pit bull specific activities- weight pull, high jump, rope hanging, tug of war, and weight pull sprint. She also loves to (and has a knack for) dock jumping.
Personality: Rocket, as her name implies, is a crazy firecracker of a dog. Active and enthusiastic, she is almost always looking for some trouble to get into, full of youthful curiosity and even more youthful independence. Though friendly and well mannered, she is a terribly stubborn and aloof young dog, preferring to wander off on her own rather than to sit around with humans. Though she loves affection and enjoys her time with her chosen staff members, if and when nothing is going on, she's off in a heart beat. As her backstory implies, she is a master escape artist. There is not a leach, harness, collar, fence, cage or container that can hold her for very long. She's a ridiculously powerful, beautiful example of a pit bull, which means she easily breaks chains and wears out collars in days, where it takes other dogs years to do the same damage. She can chew through almost any container, eating away fences and even the plastic carrier used to transport her to and from the vet in the back of the stable's pick up truck. Once escaped, she is notoriously troublesome- running around, chasing local woodland critters (she loves to hunt), digging holes and rolling offensive substances. She simply never likes to stay in the same place for long periods of time and craves stimulation. Fortunately, she is a very sweet, enthusiastic dog, very eager to learn and very easy to train. The staff have so far enjoyed giving her lots to do and, so far, she has excelled in almost everything they have tried. She promises to be an excellent competitor once she is old enough to enter in shows.

Background: Rocket was adopted along side another dog here at STS from a local animal shelter. The male dog- Rodeo, a large shepherd mix, was found one morning on the grounds, chasing some of the stable horses around in their pastures. He was not aggressive, in fact quite the opposite, the moment Sorren went out to stop him he ran right up to her, tail wagging. There had been no intent to keep the seemingly stray dog originally- he had no color, no tags and no microchip, so calling the shelter had been the logical thing to do, intending to send him there if his owner could not be found. However, by the time they had called the shelter, the fuzzy lump of a dog had grown so attached to the stable staff that giving him away had seemed out of the question.

But, what they did find out from that generally pointless phone call was that Rodeo had indeed escaped from the shelter. They were of course happy to let STS keep him, but were also quick to inform them that Rodeo had not been the only dog to escape them some days earlier. Another dog- a young pit bull, had been the one to facilitate the escape, and she had yet to be found. This immediately worried the staff here at STS. The one thing they all had in common was a love for animals and the idea of a young dog, lost and wandering the back woods for days with no food, no water, and aggressive woodland creatures running about, immediately sent them into rescue mode.

They spent another two or three days searching the area for signs of a lost dog.

Eventually, she was found- shivering cold, skinny as a twig, and trapped in the wire fence of a neighboring farm. Riley was quick to cut the dog from the fence and, though injured and somewhat rowdy, unsure of her rescuers, she was quick to settle down. She was taken to the stable's vet to check for parasites, diseases, and to treat her wounds from the wire fence. But she was given a clean bill of health and, though Sorren had been quick to discourage it, the young pit bull was brought home to the stable as well.

It took her some time to get used to her new environment. She spent much of her time in her pen, huddled alone in her dog house, but Rodeo coaxed her out and, after no more than a month, she was out and about- fully recovered and showing her true colors. Her energy was the first thing anyone noticed so, though she'd originally been named Snoopy, the staff quickly adjusted their decision and she was renamed Rocket.
