The Outlaw-Trail - Chapter 2 "Once upon a time in the west" Assignment #5

DAY 6
"Well, well. This morning's sweet coffee ended in pure excitement. We were all sitting placid in front of our tents,
enjoying our sparse breakfast, when we suddenly heard the loud sound of gunfire again. Some bandits were ambushing our
camp, they said. The sheriff shot back (of course, I'd say), and some of the others too, who were fast enough to pull their guns,
but Jana and me just sat there, I was quite shocked and stared into the direction of the men atop of the canyon wall.
Ellis seemed to know those fellows, though. I knew it - I felt uneasy about him all the time. He's not the one he's impersonating...
Our peaceful morning was insofar destroyed that we had to chase those bandits now. The sheriff wanted to see them dead.
Mysterious... Jana and me played a little trick on him, to make him think that we're totally on his side.
Well, we followed them for a long long time, but it seemed to me that they just were leading us around by the nose. Finally we
had them - and thus, the confrontation started. Thank goodness I knew how to handle a gun, had asked some other men in the
beginning of the trail, but... yeah, I hadn't any experience at all, so I didn't expect me to hit anything. The shooting part was fun
though, most of my companions took it very, very seriously.
I lost Jana in the crowd some time ago, so I tried to find her with my eyes. It took some time, but finally I saw her some metres
away. I sat up and waved her to come - but that was my biggest mistake on that day..."
