Description Wish I was staying longer, but fate works in mysterious ways. I’ll miss you. Love, Jyll
I met her at the dreaded Kentucky Fried Chicken one night and she met up with me later that night at Reflections Café… We had some coffee and played Chess for a few hours… who knew we would become what we did.. One day she looked at me and said, “There’s no where else I’d rather be than right here with you.” Tears came to my eyes as I looked at her, no one had ever said that to me before. She moved away and left me with some flowers and this card that you see in the picture… I dropped by her work place once and she came running up to me in tears…but other than that I haven’t talked to her in a few months, I think she’s scared of what could have been.

Everywhere I go, I see your face
I worked at a telemarketing place for over six months…. A man named Jason intrigued me. He would sit and read these fat books everyday and pause every time a call would come in. He didn’t give me the light of day until I mentioned something about art then his eyes lit up and we became quick friends. One day I ran from the work-place crying and he was the only one who came out after me. We would quiz each other with poetry and songs and see how long it would take for the other to figure out who it was. Everywhere I go, I see your face… Stabbing Westward. I keep this in my wallet because I feel that this is how he feels about me when I’m not around. He’d never admit to it but I know…

Reflections Café
I started going here when I met Jyll, but when she left, I still found myself going back there, only alone. One night I overheard one of the waiters telling a story that made me laugh, he came over and sat down and we chatted and shared a part of ourselves with each other. He brought his guitar to the café one night and played “Crush” by the wonderful Dave Matthews and tears came to my eyes… He had these amazing dreads… I was at his place one day and noticed a stack of business cards on his dresser.. he told me to grab some and spread the word…

Batteries Not Included
A group of us went to Chicago so my friend Ronald could meet his uncle who was flying in from Bolivia to see him. I was surprised to hear that none of them had ever been to Boystown… So we made a special trip there to take part in the community that seems to be it’s own little world in Chicago. For those of you who don’t know what kind of “community” it is.. I suggest you go look it up.. We stopped at a few of the stores, one being “Batteries Not Included” which featured some “adult” items that none of us had ever even imagined existing. And most of the items, batteries weren’t included…

Blockbuster Card
I worked in a different town for over a year and at the place where I worked they used to hand out these free movie rental cards all the time, and a few nights I’d get maybe 4 or 5 rentals, so I felt obligated to get a card at Blockbuster. I have since quite the job but I still carry the card around for no apparent reason.

Beefaroo receipt
My friend Katie and I always ate at this place called Beefaroo because they had these awesome cheese fries and this salt-stuff that you could put on basically anything you wanted to. I used to load down the burgers and fries with this salt-stuff all the time to the point where it was hard to taste anything else. I even stole one of the shakers once. Shame on me.

Fine Line Body Art business card
This card had tattoo care instructions on the back of it. I kept it from when I got my first tattoo which was when I was 16. I walked into the room and saw the pictures on the walls, and one was of this open-faced clown-guy and I was standing maybe 6 inches from it when the guy walked in and he told me where the tattoo was actually located at and I freaked. Needless to say, I still got the tattoo (which was more painfull than ALL of my piercings) *cringes at the thought*

Walking the waters where angels fear to tread… or as the locals have come to call him… Jason
Same guy as in some of my poems and the one who wrote the “Everywhere I go, I see your face” thing. It’s sad that I have two of his letters/notes in my wallet, but they bring me peace when I ever doubt myself. He told me what he felt in this letter, and of what he thinks of me as a person. It was written when we were still friends, yet tentative “more than friends” if you know what I mean. I should probably copy it down sometime and make an art piece from it…

The two pictures of the guy…
This is a guy whom I dated last year. I guess I have his picture in there as a reminder. I would have done anything for this guy, and I mean anything, he meant so much to me. And now as I look back, I doubt he felt even half the same as I did. He taught me so much about myself. And he was one of those guys that just keep coming back again and again… the last time was the worst, he out-right asked me what I felt and I told him, I don’t think we’ll see each other again. The pictures are there to keep me on track.

April 25th…. Application fee…
This is the receipt from when I paid my (you guessed it) application fee and went to visit my college’s dorm rooms. I’ve been looking forward to college for a long time now and I can’t wait to get started. For those who are interested, it’s Milwaukee Inst. of Art and Design. I’ll be majoring in visual communications. Yay!!

Picture at top of the girl…
This is a picture of my old friend Tina… she and I were like best friends, and she broke our trust (long story) and the first time I heard what had happened, I honestly didn’t believe it at all, I mean, she was my best friend. But I got the facts and it was true. I keep this as a reminder of how you think you know someone and you find out the next day that you really don’t.

I know this is more prose-y but I wanted people to be able to see the whole photo, not just a screenshot

HAhaha!!!! I know - it's one of those things that I look back on and ask WHY.

This piece was more about the words though anyway.

It's really nice of you to open up and share your stories with us and the picture is a nice way to tie the stories together, but I would have liked to see the text actually editted onto the picture. It might have tied together better that way...

I still very much like it though. It's a nice concept.

Wow! My wallet would struggle to hold half that! It's quite an interesting idea though! Your artwork is so indavidualistic. You have no problem sharing your life with others through it! That's pretty kewl Keep up the awesome work!

A well presented glimpse into the life of Shanna Lynn. Quite courageous and daring of you to reveal yourself in such a way. Deserving a tenfold and lots of .

pretty creative presentation showna. honest. almost like street theatre or
something. (is that what it's called?)
it's got a bit of a retro 'feel' to it for me. like it should be the beginning of
a movie,...and you're reciting a soliloquy,...the screen fades in from black, as it moves
nearer the contents it pans left,...the voice begins,...as it talks about each
item in a matter-a-fact tone, the camera focuses in on it, but continues to move
slowly,...never stopping.
music begins,...soft,...something like 'blonde on blonde' by nada surf or 'edge of the ocean' by ivy or wait! maybe 'walking after you' by foo fighters.
oh yeah, severe coolness that would be.
and then it comes to the end,...camera moves away,...fades to black.

do you know flash showna? i don't, but i'd like to learn,...i've been checking out
some amazing flash around here lately. this would be cool as a flash piece. serious.
music, voice and all.

oh,...and can i have my blockbuster card back? and i better not have any late charges!

Alright I'm not gonna lie, at first glimpse of this shot, I thought your wallet was a sandwich.

Me: "Why the hell would someone keep a sub sandwich in their wallet?"

Then I took a closer look, and found out that it wasnt a sandwich, I felt a bit let down. But thats ok, everything that was in the shot made up for it. I think it's cool to see what other people tend to have on them at times.

Great work! An interesting way of putting the short version of your life on the internet. It's amazing all the stuff we keep in our wallets... that has nothing to do with money! You can learn so much about a person just by seeing their wallet. I think you made a good point of that in this work.

I suggest you open the picture in one window .. and the discription in the other. You can jump back and forth to it, everytime a new subject comes in.

This is one beautifull work. Not only do you share your happy moments, you share your sad moments too.

I can't really say much, atleast nothing more then a thank you. Thanks for the view in your life.
