quite an evolution he had from smiling blonde dwarf in pyjamas Β to a macho. while i didnt enjoy 1 and 2, i had a few friends who loved them

They're old school, and while they're fun, it's not for everyone nowadays. I think they're good games but the best one is 3D.

i dont mind playing old games today (be it pc, 8-16 bit consoles or c64 cassettes) but i guess nukem's felt lacking somehow compared to other platform games of the same era. can be to do with poor visuals, dull enemies and limited choice of colour. almost like a dated c64 port on pc. however the third manages to bring lots of character to the hero and his enemies and strays away from the dullness of the first two.

Also 3D is alive because the community keeps uploading more mods and maps, for a game released in 1996 is completely awesome, alive for 20 years and still going

You should try some mods, they're really well made and fun! For example, I had a blast with WG Realms 2.
