Magnificent pictures!Β The story that affected me most was The Little Match Girl - which is not a fairytale at all, but a bit of gritty, ugly realism.Β I don't know if I liked it best, but I certainly remember it best.
One of the facts that seems to be getting a lot of attention these days is that the original forms of many fairytales was pretty gruesome.Β Somehow I suspect those were not the ones Einstein was thinking of!

I only vaguely remember the story of The Little Match Girl, I will have to reread it. (www.andersen.sdu.dk/vaerk/hers⦠Regarding the origins of fairy tales, I somewhat agree. Though, I do believe that both versions of a fairy tale serve different purposes. It's interesting to think about whether Einstein would recommend the edited versions or the originals. Personally, I'd guess the original.

I used to read (and analyze the heck out of) fairy tales with my mom when I was little. My favorite was always The Snow Queen.

Haha, I may be exaggerating just a bit, but they truly are all lovely. xD I couldn't possibly choose a favorite!

Breathtaking! The little girl's hat is ADORABLE! My favorite is the second one because it looks like it could have been photographed from another planet. Your editing skills are amazing.Β

That's precisely why I created this art feature. I saw a few of @JPwalak's photos and had to keep looking for more! I think this piece sparked the feature: Β Β

This is a beautiful feature. Inspiring. I am still growing up with fairytales. Hans Christian Andersen's have always been dearest ones to me. The Steadfast Tin Soldier, Snow Queen and The Little Match Girl. And there are several stories from Turkish literature. What about you Shyree ? What are your favorites?

Hmm, I'd have to say: Snow White, Hansel and Gretel, Rumpelstiltskin, Sleeping Beauty, and either Cinderella or Beauty and the Beast. I had a huge book full of Hans Christian Andersen's stories.
