I know some who play the game and take this method to heart. I for one wait till my sneak is above level 50 before I even bother trying to steal anything unless its part of quest.

Perfect... i remember when i played morrowind the first time with a friend. He would go in and murder a character.. then proceed to take the valuable stuff and sell it...Β
then i suguested that taking everything and sell it would pay out more. Now i've grown old and more RP-like.. i dont kill on a theif charactor, and i only steal valuables

I'm rich and still pick up everything that isn't nailed down. Only thing that changed is I don't bother taking literally EVERYTHING from people I pickpocket. XD

It's a real great difference from Morrowind where you steal everything! Every little thing!! And it's ok. But in Skyrim you get overweighted in a moment and should choose what to steal

SO true. Especially if you pick the Stealth perks that allow you to find more gold and gems in chests.
I swear, after raiding a single barrow, I have, like, 7 Perfect Garnets, 11 Amethysts, 3 Diamonds, 6 Perfect Emeralds and 10 Perfect Sapphires. In one raid.

I have stolen a total of 4 things. 3 books and that love letter that is part of a quest. I felt so guilty about the books that I threw them off a cliff. Haven't stolen anything since.
