Description
From left to right we have:Lockheed. The eldest. As a kid he was always told that he's responsible for watching over his siblings, so becoming a royal guard when he grew up seemed like the next logical step. He's rather sweet-natured and the most like his father. A good flier like all of Rainbow Dash and Soarin's children, but built more for endurance than speed. Lavender is somewhere around the Cmc's age when he's born.
Mercury. Second eldest. As an adult she's a top researcher and scientist in the Cloudsdale weather factories. She has a rather sarcastic streak, sometimes becoming downright venomous, which has earned her the teasing nickname of Quicksilver by her brothers. Often in disagreement with Rainbow Dash, who she sometimes regards as a bit of a meathead.
Snowburst. The youngest and most like his mother. Quick, arrogant and a bit of a womanizer. Almost as fast as Rainbow Dash in her youth, but more agile. To him it was never a question of what he wanted to be when he grew up and naturally he did join the Wonderbolts, though he had to fight off accusations that his mother and father pulled strings to get him in. Later on he was offered the position of captain but refused on the grounds that he'd rather fly than deal with recruits and other such responsibilities. The butt of many "20% cooler" jokes at the hands of his siblings.
Despite their differences they are tremendously loyal to each other.

I know this is an old picture, but since it was linked with the Lavender babysitting picture, it's relevant again. Anyway, have you given thought about the personalities of some of the fathers featured in your NextGen verse? I know that some are pretty well established already (like Spike), but I hardly ever see anyone attach a solid personality on anyone like Soarin or Pokey if they use him.

Heh...my problem is I always assign "laid-back, puts-up with wife antics" to everyone by standard when I ship em...but I daresay it fits Soarin?

I can say that that would fit Soarin, given his profession. In my little NG verse, Dash manages to get the "spark" back in his life when he was thinking about retiring from the Wonderbolts.

But I've been wondering something - why does RainbowDash want to join the WounderBolts, when she's clearly superior to them? A running joke in the series?

This reminds me of line from a tv show where the grandmother of a woman introduces the children she's watching over, three of them, and the Grandma is so old she thinks there her's, and the first thing out of her mouth is.
"There all their Father, they got nothing from you."
And that's how I see this picture they all take after good old Pop. Not one of them got moms hair.

As much as I hate the ship, these kids are well designed and not complete clones of RD like the usual offspring you see. Well done.
Although I only wonder why their colors are dull while their parents are bright or even pastel.

mostly cause i find it's pretty hard to mix and match bright colours that aren't a complete eyesore
and probably cause rainbow dash has the most daring colour combination of all, so everyone will look a bit dull next to her

Usually in this case I would look to the grandparents or other relatives, but since we've never seen a relative of Soarin's, and RD's dad seemed to have given her most of her colors (unless you count Rainbowshine as the mother, which I do b/c of their similar eye color and proximity to each other in the episode Rainbow Blaze was shown in) I can understand, although I might have expected then to share one or two bright colors from their mother while sharing something from their father. XD

as far as i recall, i tried some of rainbow's colours on the kids hairs, but it always made me think it's just too..."clone-y", for lack of a better word. and it felt a bit too convenient, so i did the harder thing and tried to figure out their own colours. after all, even irl you hardly see someone with the EXACT same hair colour as either of their parents.
so i went with the brightest colours on snowburst cause he's the most like her and with muted colours on lockheed cause he's more like his dad. mercury was really tough to figure out. i tried yellow/purple, green/purple and all other kind of crazy combos, but in the end everything clashed too much. so i went with the compromise of somewhat muted colours (from her dad's side), but split up into two (to hint at her mother).

Why can't I create great offspring like these,they are deadly cute and I love the back ground to each child.
Soarin is so great as a Father in this scene,its great not to see Dash being a "Smother" to her babies.
I think I enjoy Mercury the best,she has a sweetness that hides her rage.(So much like myself).
