And another cover to add to the pile....Walt Disney's Comics and Stories 713. I'm pretty sure the lime green BG has been nixed by now, but you get the idea.I was pretty excited to draw Goofy this time around...and he does make an appearance in another upcoming cover of mine!
(and NO, that is not Minnie...but a strange new character from the future!)

Guess I shouldn't be too surprised to see some new similar looking character in a Disney comic. There's been like... 20 of them? Most of them from the various European made comics, at least.

OMG I thought that minnie had hair now o___O!!!
I don't like too much when they put a hair in a old character, like they did on Daisy for the "House of Mickey" show T_T
I cannot recognize the same character xD
I dunno why they do these, probably to change the look, and be more girly and all this stuff, but i always get sad when they change a character to fit the "fashion"

Heh, I can totally relate-- the little amount of pro comics work I've done is for holy-grail type franchises of mine. It never really sets fully in....
And yeah, I grew up on Disney comics (and never really put them down

Them Ducks are why I ended up working in comics myself. I grew up on the awesome Gladstone stuff in the 80s. Those were the days!

Ahhh I see. That sucks. :\ I'm sure it was pure luck they got a hold of me, but at the time I was really only looking for Cars work. Somehow once I got in, the editors saw my stuff and thought I'd be a good fit on their other Disney titles. It didn't happen right away though after I posted in the forum...it was months and months later.

So, when they have you do these covers, what do they give you? Do they describe what they want, or do they just give you the story and let you come up with one?

Usually my editor gives a one or two liner of what he wants, most of the time they are story based. But they're ALWAYS welcome to other suggestions, or story points that *I* may want to draw instead. 99% of the time, their ideas seem to be good, so I never really ask to change it. I get a pdf of the comic to puruse for reference/inspiration...or a few pages from it...I typically like to ask for the whole thing as it gives me a better idea of what the story is about.
I did however just do a DW one that was an homage to an old Batman cover - so that was a little more straight foward. But like for example, my first Donald Duck one where he's walking in the park, I basically got from my editor something like, "Donald is walking along about to be jumped (unknowingly) by the thugs in the story...oh, and he has to be wearing this ipod thingy"...and I go from there

Clearly it's Riversong in possibly the greatest disguise ever. Stay away from Fezzes, Mickey. Or else she'll blast it off yer noggin in a nanosecond.

Mickey is one of the toughest guys to draw on-model because of his simplicity; and I must definitely say that your style bends the model in ways that allows him to emote very well. I'm REALLY excited to see you on these covers- I geek out every time I see them at my comic shop(or Toys'R'Us).
