Description Since I'd been working like mad on the DW Annual, I haven't had time to draw anything else this past month. However, now that it's done and I've got a whole week off, with another Rescue Ranger cover coming along, I figured I'd share another "Process" pic of how I get from start to finish.

a) The first image is a small thumbnail I submit to my editor after we've discussed what the cover is all about. I'm surprised they give me the go ahead at this stage, as my thumbs are usually pretty loose and crappy!

b) next I do a tighter rough of the action, try and fit everything into the cut offs, keeping in mind logos and barcodes etc. Then I do a cleaned up "ink" line over my tighter "pencils"

c) next is colour...pretty self explanatory. You may also notice Chip's expression change...there was a call to make him more "determined" which usually happens sooner in the game, but I guess they were undecided!

d) then I wait a month or so and am lucky to find the cover "dressed" with logos...it always makes it feel like a finished piece at this point.

I love the little changes that take place over each one to the way things and characters are positioned and drawn. Love it. Thanks for posting your process.

Looks great. Are those two sketches two different pieces of paper, or did you really erase and draw over?

That 'loose' thumbnail of yours is the Mona Lisa compared to my rough concept cover sketches, you're in great shape!

I like dressing the covers with custom logos, but I can only do that on certain variants.

The determined Chip usually wins out I suppose. It works though!

You have a pretty expressive thumbnail, I can see how someone would okay it. Plus they know your work, so its obvious it would come out excellent.

It's a beauty, and I LOVE, LOVE the snow speeders! Hah! Thanks for sharing, I love seeing the process. It reminds me that you're human and not a cartoon drawing machine!
