Description

"The light of the early morning touched the tall towers of Imrryr and made them scintillate. Each tower was of a different hue; there were a thousand soft colours. There were rose pinks and pollen yellows, there were purples and pale greens, mauves and browns and oranges, hazy blues, whites and powdery golds, all lovely in the sunlight. Two riders left the Dreaming City behind them (...)."

Fanart of "Elric of Melniboné" by Michael Moorcock. A fantasy novel I read and enjoyed last summer while listening to Bal-Sagoth [:

Very nice work! I'd get rd of the frame though, or go for a white one, black is a "dangerous" color, because it distracts people from looking at the painting.

Indeed recently I realized black frames don't look that well, though I liked and used them for years (bad taste from old time lol).
Now I prefer white or no frame at all. Maybe should take the time to change all the others.

Thank you for your comment and advice (:

Sure!
Yeah, I'm guilty of frames in the past too xD

Haha! For me I guess it was because I wanted to make it "darker".
Now I'm considering removing them from all the gallery... but there must be at least 80 pictures with such frame...

You know, you can just re-upload it without the frame when editing your deviation... and even check option to notify your watchers!
I wouldn't delete it, it's a good work

That's what I wanted to do (noooo I don't want to delete my whole gallery ^^)
Just that means I need to edit each picture first (and try to find again all the files), then upload them again (and dA is quite low on my computer...)
A lot of work ahead

P.S. This picture reminds me the meeting of Thingol and Melian from Tolkien's Silmarillion.

Brilliant, I happen to also enjoy reading about Elric. I still have the entire Eternal Hero series I think. Very very nicely done this is, quite evocative of the imagery.

Thank you (: I'm happy it's evocative. Despite the fact it's very different, compared with the description below (all the colours etc) but while reading the first book it had a dreamlike atmosphere in mind...
Personally I stopped at the Revenge of the Rose, too weird...

It's nice that you draw something from Elric. His world is rather interesting.

Thank you very much! I see the fandom here isn't so developed (haven't searched that much though), so I did this!

Superbe illustration, vraiment grandiose !

HydromelKing In reply to Sieskja [2017-04-02 01:24:09 +0000 UTC]

I know only that the creator is ursulav and the pear appeared the first time in 2006.
But I have no idea why it's now spreading. :I
Ohyeah, you can get a badge out of it if you draw it, so I guess that's other reason people are drawing it ~
