Description Wanted to play with rigging and weight maps so used Valea's Cat Hair prop. Character is using Marie Elite V4 skin texture and morph is Olympia with some breast and face adjustments. Environment is AM's Ultimo Paradiso with custom sand texture for beach, as original looked a bit stretched. Bikini is V6 String Bikini with custom texture.

Don't be hard on yourself if it looks the same as before you began, long as it matches what was in your minds eye it's good. This is what it looks like on one of those white sand beaches when the sun is high you have to squint to see anything near the ground. I say well done the only thing I would do was soften the shadows and it would soften the pic some.Β

Thanks for the feedback! Have decided to not redo this after all, but will do a different render with the same character (albeit with a few adjustments). I didn't want this to be a typical pinup and more as if it was taken by an amateur photographer, in a real life scenario, so much of the constructive criticism, though valuable, doesn't apply for this piece

That's what I thought you captured a real shot and I was an amateur photographer at one time. Like I said other than hard shadows this is a shot I would have taken back then and would have been pleased with it. Besides most people now only see pics after they have been PS to death this is real. Β

(A critique requested by the artist follows, intended to be constructive but absolutely my own subjective opinion.)

The skin shader looks nice.Β  It's hard to get good skin out of Reality, and I don't see many great African-looking skins in general, and this one does look very good.Β  I like that you used a breast morph that allowed for swinging to the side, a very realistic touch.Β  The hair works well with the pose, too.

But there are some issues with the render as a whole.

The lights on the rest of the scene are just too bright.Β  They are eye-hurtingly, squint-to-see-the-sand bright.Β  At that point maybe it's time to adjust the specular on the skin again so that lights can be used that don't obscure the entire rest of the scene.Β  For it to pass as a dreamy atmosphere (the only place where that whiteout look really works) it would need some blur or bloom, especially around her body.

And finally - her face doesn't look right.Β  A person can be attractive and have one eye higher than the other, or weird-looking eyebrows, or that flattened lip-shape, but not all at once.Β  She ends up just looking.. odd. Not "regular person in a pinup" odd, but "uncanny valley" odd.Β

I hope you understand that there's nothing racial about this at all.Β  She could have a much flatter nose and lips that are as big or bigger and still be beautiful.Β  In fact, a flatter nose would help, she's got kind of a bulbous thing going on there that isn't helping the overall impression.Β

Here's an example of a gorgeous black woman's face done in the same engine (I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same texture, there aren't that many): artxtreme101.deviantart.com/ar…

With the same eyebrows and big, beautiful lips and a larger, flatter nose.Β  It's not a matter of what features are there, but of how they are arranged.

Appreciate the detailed and honest feedback.

I think the sky could have been a bit darker to contrast with sand which is a little bright (using default lux sky), but being that its very white, and sunlight is main source (which is generally not used for portraits - I like to push the boundaries) see an example image here where the sand is very bright: www.southern-africa.co.uk/imag… certainly think some bloom could be added to give it a dreamy quality!

The sunlight could be repositioned slightly different as I can see that its creating shadows/hollows around her eyes and under her nose which aren't too flattering, but in respect of a photograph taken in this type of scene its realistic.

With regard to the morph, her eyebrows are quite high and arched but that's probably due to the expression that's been set and the position of the brows in the texture, will spin some dials. And I have actually scene women in real life with similar lips, nose and eyebrows that were quite beautiful, but will have a look to see if a flatter nose looks better - perhaps slight change in lighting angle will help that too!

Many thanks again and stand by for an updated version
