Description First time I've used this character by and wanted to see how the displacement maps worked with Reality.

Took a while to get the right combination, particularly as there appears to be a bug with Reality or Lux that was reversing the displacement settings!

For anyone who would like to know, skin bump was set to 100%, -0.1, 0.1 and displacement 150%, -0.01, 0.01. I did need to do some minor post-work to clear up some seams.

Sorry but this render is over a year old and I do not have scene file anymore - IIRC it was a standard 3 point light setup. Bear in mind it wasn't rendered in DS, but Luxrender.

Did you have to create the displacement map or was it already in the texture file?

The displacement map was included with the product.

WOW, what a great render with details and all, congrats on making it look as should in Reality, I failed many times, I guess I have to re-try. You did tried it as you said, thank you for the result, I feel like it was meant for me LOL

Thank you! I have to admit it was a rather painful experience because of the bug, was getting some very peculiar results to start with hehe. And yes, in a manner it was meant for you! I hope it helps

I had the newest versions of both Lux and Reality and still had inverted maps so I went to the previous version of Lux and it works. I hope the next version of Reality gets this fixed.

there was a bug with Lux, which was corrected by Reality. Then Lux got fixed so Reality had to be updated. I beleive it to now be correct, you just need to make sure you are using the correct versions of Reality and Luxrender together otherwise you get the inverse effect you have seen. Paolo will be able to confirm which ones are which... (probably listed under the bug fixes documentation somewhere also?)

Great image by the way! `¬)

I saw a post on Paolo's forum about it funnily enough and used the output tab trick to re-associate Lux - maybe I don't have the latest version of Reality. I'm happy to use this trick until R3 though
