Their names are an homage to the Pacman ghost. You have "Pinkie" Pie. "Inkie" and "Blinkie", the sisters. And "Clyde" and "Sue", their father and mother respectively.

Sue is the actual name of the "pink" ghost, but "Pinkie" (the name she is better known for) is her nickname, as listed on the original arcade game cast list.
