Description Alright, so this is some concept art of a creature for an upcoming Silent hill collab fan project. what it's about and who's involved will remain a secret for now, all I can say is that I'm doing the official concept art for the creatures .

-Again, I tried to replicate Ito's style by painting by ballpoint pen and Photoshop, to give it an authentic concept art feel, and because everything looks great painted that way.
-As for how much time it took, eons were spent painting this image. I really don't know.

I think I improved a lot from my latest creature, "Hidden Feeling" and I'm very proud of the way this turned out, so I'd appreciate some comments, if you may.

--update:--
I made the spine orifice hollow and added some strings to hint that the long thing is it's spine and that it fits in the said orifice.

I must ask now, as I am a big fan of the symbolisms in the game: What does this creature symbolize? :3

Actually, i don't remember it. I was commissioned to render this creature and was told the symbolism, but right now I can't recall it. And I changed pc's so I don't have the creature sheet anymore, sorry.

It does look like something drawn by Masahiro Ito! And the concept is really great and horrifying at the same time. I can't stop looking at it. You rock.
The gloves kinda remind me of Valtiel and the legs of the mannequins.

I don't really like the small horns but that's not important at all.

SilentIvo In reply to JohannesVIII [2009-08-29 04:05:20 +0000 UTC]

Whoa thanks, you make me blush ^^
But yeah, I do base my style on Masahiro Ito a lot. It's not just because he's SH's main artist, there's something quite special about his art.

Skeptica [2009-01-26 20:18:51 +0000 UTC]

Yes man, this is EPIC. Hidden feeling is of course an epic by the way it gives off killing emotion, and this one gives an ultra sense of danger with that goat shaped pr*ck and otherwordly body propotion

Now let me be true to myself and compare this one to Lurker or blocker and attest the scariness level.

Lurker: 6/10, horrifying concept hidden behind the figure
Blocker: 5/10, big ass monster blocking the way with twitching head? Hmm not bad but not enough
Scarlet: 5/10, we've seen monster doll, the concept is not satisfying
Amnion: 8.5/10 that separating head was an epic! But the small size really kill the joy

Hidden Feeling: 9/10, fuckin original. While most monster in silent hill threaten by physical mean, this one give off a flaunting smile in front of deformed body, as if laughing to a dark, dark humor

Chimera: 9/10, similar to mannequin? no it's not. I rate it nine because this one gives a real idea of how twisted a SH world can be. This figure has woman like proportion, yet it has the masculine primary attached to its crotch, a contradiction never found in nature, and best of all, the head of the "long john" (lol) is a goat! Fuckin goat, an poppular association with the devil itself! Clearly this time you did it again not by using the same dangerous emotion warning, but you give the dangerous sense by presenting to us the idea of a creature rejected by nature! Who wants to accept what nature rejects?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SilentIvo In reply to Skeptica [2009-01-27 17:29:46 +0000 UTC]

wow thanks for the great critiques! They've been very kind and thoughtful.
One thing tho, the creature's idea was not my own, as I'm doing the concept art for a collab fancomic. The idea was given to me, and i painted it as I saw it .
Oh, and the giant penis....er, well, you CAN see it as a giant penis, as normally SH creatures are open to discussion by the fans, but it wasn't originally intended to look like that, y'see, it's a detacheable spine, and the head comes out with it, but since I twisted the lower body for the spider-like members, it looks like it's coming out of the crotch area. I'll try to make it less evident and hint that it was once attached to it's back, but you can really imagine it the way you like it, as it makes it more fun actually.

Skeptica In reply to SilentIvo [2009-01-28 03:53:46 +0000 UTC]

haha ic ic
Idea is of course important, but being able to bring the idea to such degree is equally important

Haha I thought it was penis lol, well it's really fun to imagine SH type creature XD

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SilentIvo In reply to Skeptica [2009-01-30 18:29:00 +0000 UTC]

I modified it to make it more evident that it's his spine and that it fits in that cavity. What do you think, better or worse?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Skeptica In reply to SilentIvo [2009-01-31 08:50:07 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, it is still challenging for me to see it as a "spine" because the "long item" still retains its fleshed and skin-covered feature. When we say it is a spine, we would picture it being more of bone and less fleshy.
When the long thing start to open a bit and show its inside, the sense of it being a spine deteriorates. The long thing doesn't have the repeated similar pattern of a spine and it even spread wide at the end, near the goat head, while the spine grows like capital letter S; no sudden widening on any of its part.

I dunno if it is one of the requirement to make the long thing strictly as a spine, but I have to say things are great the way they are. Holes to fit in the long thing, so that Chimera can hide the long thing and suddenly bring out its goat head ? Perfect. Left over tissues that cling to the long thing when the long thing "erects?" Perfect.

If I might add suggestion, it would be worth trying to make the skin of the long thing wrinkled, just like old men's wrinkled skin. Then how about making the long thing appeared as if it contracts some skin disease (marked by occasional bluish low opacity spots), just to emphasize the bizzare nature of the long thing?

Hope that helps...

SilentIvo In reply to Skeptica [2009-01-31 17:06:49 +0000 UTC]

Yea, I see. I didnt want to include any boney skeleton-like parts because it's not very silent hillish, so I made it flexible without it's common S shape and the only reason it widens is for it to fit with the neck area, so basically the spine itself is inside, what you see is back skin and flesh. but yea I think I could try and give it the S shape and add some bones. The wrinkles and skin disease sound cool as well.
