When I first did my captain planet drawing. I wanted it to have a bit of a cartoon/anime feel...I didn't come out as planned. Recently I saw a tutorial in a magazine and I decided to redo it. This is it.Related content

All thing is missing is Al Gore and Leonardo DiCaprio crying and Scott Pruitt, current header of EPA soon to leave hopefully and Sarah Palin laughing.
I wish they would bring back Captain Planet to TV so children would help the environment instead of destroying the environment.
By the way, great artwork, dude. You should be a political cartoonist for Washington Post or New York Times. That would be awesome.

without any kind of description of what's supposed to be going on, I can't tell what you're trying to convey. (beyond maybe 'Rich guys screw the planet over')

the greedy would sacrifice their savior for short-term comfort and security while ultimately screwing themselves and everyone else in the long run, it sort of a joke for christians to get, they or someone who knows a bit about christianity. the comparison is to that of jesus of nazareth in that both had their minds on their mission and the future of anyone who'd listen

Al gore crying and Sarah Palin laughing could be added too. Sometimes an artwork show many things and the thrut too... :-[ Captain planet was an audacious cartoon. He didn't showed super heroes fighting the evil, or a world of brainwashing Dora, but things who could making the kids asking questions about serious things: pollution, hunt, racissm and hate. Show me a cartoon, american or japanese who show that today. Nice artworks, sorry if my words could seem depressing.

I'm still trying to figure out what it means. Big business and politicians killing the planet and gambling each other for its resources? Not sure I see anything more than that. Christ died to save others, but I'm not sure I see any other symbolism or parallels here. Except for maybe the rings signifying the scripture "Strike the Shepherd and the sheep will scatter," or etc.

Since I'm not religious I can appreciate this for what it is without getting all fundie about whether the context of this piece directly parallels Jesus' Plight in the New Testament. Anyone could be crucified like that back in the day (or today, just watch Riki-Oh), didn't have to be Jesus, the cross was simply a torture device back then, not a symbol of Christ's eternal sacrifice in the story. But people love their Jesus so none of that matters.
This is striking, instantly caught my eye, and is utterly original as far as Captain Planet is concerned. Love it.

One of the best/worst animated shows ever! Right next to Speed Racer of course. Wow now that is memorable for so many reasons. I am kind of frustrated to with the environmental debate. You have allot of people making good points then you have people exaggerating like Al Gore who takes the most extreme probability and runs with it (like how in the seventies they said we were heading into another ice age)

Yea, I'm on more on Gore's side of course sometimes the other side makes some good points and I have my doubts. The way I see it, I prefer to be on the safe side and try and take care of the problem. I think if the change is gradual the economy will adapt.

I think I like the first version more, but I still love this concept. I still think this is a picture that shouldn't be taken too seriously, but a person should still be able to take something away from it. Thanks for drawing it in the first place <3

So Captain Planet is on a par with Jesus? Shocking in a cheap sort of way, yes, but not terribly...effective?
Who is Pilate in this analogy, the uncaring condemner of the Messiah figure?
Where is the Judas who betrayed him for cash?
The guys who cast lots at the foot of the cross were nobodies, the gofers, the guys who were there to do the bidding of those with the power.
Rework it with the analogy fleshed out better, and while the message will still be maudlin and reactionary, it will at least be complete.
