Info: Also known as shadowdrakes or darkwyrms, Styx dragons haunt the putrid waters of the River Styx throughout its nearly infinite length. One of the few creatures immune to the harmful effects of the river, Styx dragons swim with impunity across the top layers of all the Lower Planes, feasting on fiends and any other creature they can find and catch. (Draconomicon)I tried a speedpaint-like technique on this one. It has no great details but I think it's more artistic and of course a really pleasure to make! I think i'll keep to that technique and i hope i will get better with practice.

I really like the dragon's design and your art style, but the composition makes him seem so tiny. This could've been a much more powerful picture if it were from a closer, more dynamic angle.

Oh, noes! Tiny?... He was ment to be huge... Maybe I should have draw something more on the background to show it's size, or follow your advice for a more dynamic angle. I'll seriously consider that in future dragon designs! Thank you very much!

No problem. I still recommend making the angle closer to him so he takes up a larger portion of the frame, even if you add a size-reference object in the back like a boat or such. :3

Maybe I'll better try a new deviation. As I'm making progress, with my current skills I could improve my half gallery lol. But I prefer to make new ones than working on old stuff, because I guess I'll never be satisfied anyways... On the other hand, maybe I'll do it if I'm not too bored...

xD thanks but I've been practicing avoiding gray as much as possible in recent. :3 I wanted to try to make it look as solid BnW as possible. Even the grey parts on it are just black brush tool pressed really lightly, and I wasn't happy with that x_x :3 Thanks for your critique, I hadn't thought about how the wings are confusing with the background.
But the topic was you trying revisions!! I was just using mine as a reference. xD lol

But yes, the topic was about my revisions ^^ lol You did a total remake, something I'm willing to do. It's better than trying to improve the old one IMO. Well, why not? Maybe I'll give in a try when I feel doing a styx dragon again!

There's a group, I'm too lazy to search for the link right now but if you're interested you can find 'em pretty easy by searching for em or lookin in my groups tab, called "Kick your own ass" and they do challenges and stuff where you have to remake your own drawings. There's a contest going on right now and it'll be perfect if you want to try a revision sometime soon. :3

I like the coloring and painterly feeling to this! This is the kind of style I've always tried to go for, but it never turns out right. XD; The realistic feeling is very nice.

I know! It's hard to find the right coloring technique. I'm trying to use one for pencil crayons right now. Sometimes it's hard to find one that suits you and is easy enough to not make you work for hours
