The marriage between famous photographer Photofinish and unknown treasure hunter was scandallous to say the least. Dr. Caballeron was an archeologist who never reached his goal in being famous and respected in his field. A lot of ponies simply saw him as a gold digger. At the same time the dissapproval that couple got only brought them closer together and spiced up their romance. They met at some fancy social gathering. Caballeron was witty enough to get there through some connections. Photofinish noticed him. He impressed her with his charisma and interesting appearence and after a short conversation she asked him for photoshoot. He agreed and after that he asked her on a date. After a year or two they were married.

Photofinish already had an adult daughter, but she decided to go for a second child. So, little Cobalt was born. Caballeron dreamed of a son who would take after him, but the foal was nothing like that. It was a timid and quiet child who liked to play with plush toys. Anything cute that Cobalt liked her father dissaproved thinking that it's too feminine for a colt. Once he caught his foal playing with Photo's make up. Photofinish stormed to Ponyville immideantly, but her child refused to come back home while Caballeron was there.

In the end Photofinish seriously talked to both her children and her husband and decided it'll be the best to divorce. Caballeron was angered by this decision, but refuced to change his ways. It was over between him and his now ex-wife. Cobalt felt quilty for this. For the long time she couldn't find herself in life. Still very shy and cutie-markless even at their 18. Calm time in Poniville with Bon Bon and her wife Lyra helped her to reflex on herself and realise she weren't a gay stallion like her father thought. Cobalt came out as a trans mare to her sister and then to her mother and friends. She received a lot of support and decided to take the name of Onyx since that was a nickname that Photofinish used for her in her childhood.

Finally, Onyx was at peace with herself. She got her cutie mark when she took part in one of Rarity's fashion shows in Ponyville (her mother helped her to get there). Now Onyx became much more confident in herself. She's still calm and kind mare she's always been, but now she's not afraid of showing who she truly is. She inspires a lot of LGBT+ youth by continuing her model career.
