Okay, but he *is* a narcissist XD There's no way he doesn't like the attention. (I'm obviously getting way too paranoid about the backgrounds, but I saw the birds in panel 1 and was like "Ha! I wonder if Ahren is spying.")

And now... *claps* wolf-hunt! Time to go looking for more trouble.

Hahaha! Well, Ahren is generally spying, but he wouldn't want to spy on this particular scene. Maybe that's why he'd be taking off so fast, though ...

Cas is indeed a narcissist. And he does indeed like the attention.

WOLF HUNT.

Ah! You quote Wilde in one of your comments, which is very fitting, but this one also reminds me of a Rossetti painting:

The flowers, the mirror, the red hair, general decadence, etc.

Hah! Right, I love Rossetti. I don't actually know how much I'd gone into him when I made that drawing, but there's a definitive overlap in aesthetic preference.

Also, it is endlessly amusing to cast Cas as Rossetti's troubled muse. Have you read Christina Rossetti's poem about her, "In an Artist's Studio"? I love it so.

    One face looks out from all his canvases,

    One selfsame figure sits or walks or leans:

    We found her hidden just behind those screens,

    That mirror gave back all her loveliness.

    A queen in opal or in ruby dress,

    A nameless girl in freshest summer-greens,

    A saint, an angel — every canvas means

    The same one meaning, neither more or less.

    He feeds upon her face by day and night,

    And she with true kind eyes looks back on him,

    Fair as the moon and joyful as the light:

    Not wan with waiting, not with sorrow dim;

    Not as she is, but was when hope shone bright;

    Not as she is, but as she fills his dream.

I do know the poem but it’s been a long while since I read it! It is excellent, though. I saw some of the Rossetti paintings at a museum exhibit a month or two ago, so they were on my mind.. but I wish they’d had some of Christina’s poems on display alongside the paintings. It would’ve added another dimension to the exhibit (and complicated viewers’ relationships to the sea of sensual redheads).

Fully agreed. I keep some Rossetti prints in my room, but I keep Christina in mind. It is most attractive that way.

Sort of why Cas is more attractive with Seit in the mix, I suppose.

That makes sense. He introduces the crucial second perspective.

The perspective that says, "I love you, but you are a serial killer."
