SilverCoins In reply to ??? [2008-12-21 00:21:56 +0000 UTC]

Yes! *lol* Finally someone who found that as stupidly amusing as I did when I wrote it~!

<3 I suppose it has rather migrated into note-form now, aye?

Stupidly amusing? Naaaah... I found it quite clever. xD With the way some authors seem to write books only to show off their vocabulary, it can feel like they're speaking another language sometimes. That line nailed the sensation I get when I read those kinds of books.

Oh no, I had to go public with my views. But I appreciate your response to the notes as well. ^_^

SilverCoins In reply to dragonrider [2008-12-21 23:16:09 +0000 UTC]

I'm so glad.
*chuckle* And, yes. Cas is my way of venting the frustration caused by that behaviour, actually. <3

Ah, yes, the journal entry. It was a piece of incredibly sensible writing, that. I'm glad you went public as well. *wink*

Are 'they' the other werewolves. The ones who WANT to be werewolves?

And they're forcibly recruiting street people?

Probably. Plus, if they're weak, they'll take to it because of the strength and sense of belonging it entails.

Easy victims. The way in which faith proposes to 'help' broken people is actually one of my main problems with religion.

...

... Actually, it might me my one main problem with religion.

Japan-freak-LEB In reply to SilverCoins [2008-12-14 15:32:39 +0000 UTC]

My problem is the "we're better than everyone else" motif, and the general elitism and snobbery, etc. And the idealism.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SilverCoins In reply to Japan-freak-LEB [2008-12-14 22:04:49 +0000 UTC]

*thoughtful* The idealism is very often beautiful, though, I find: at least on a fundamental level.
And the elitism could be readily accepted as long as they kept to themselves and didn't interfere with other people's lives. Every group has some level of elitism, otherwise it wouldn't be a group (which is essentially why I dislike groups).

But they're so superior and loud about it. They're proud of their ignorance and bigotry.

Japan-freak-LEB In reply to Japan-freak-LEB [2008-12-15 20:52:44 +0000 UTC]

Ugh, not me. *sigh* i guess I don't like people like that.

SilverCoins In reply to Japan-freak-LEB [2008-12-15 23:14:50 +0000 UTC]

*smile* We all seem quite horrible in someone's eyes, though, don't we? Don't you think, in a hypothetical situation where you believed in God, that your first reaction to those that didn't would be pity as well?
From that, there's a very small step to condescension (seeming or not).

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Japan-freak-LEB In reply to SilverCoins [2008-12-16 00:27:06 +0000 UTC]

Unless you don't feel sorry for them.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SilverCoins In reply to Japan-freak-LEB [2008-12-16 01:12:16 +0000 UTC]

Well, yes. Because then you will already be at condescension.

But that is just a case of lacking perspective - I do believe all humans capable of learning empathy. As long as they aren't directly interfering with my life (which current religions absolutely are, of course), I don't mind them condescending against me. If I minded, that would be little more than confirming their opinions.

Japan-freak-LEB In reply to SilverCoins [2008-12-16 21:20:59 +0000 UTC]

*sigh* I guess I can't let go of that--the condescension against me. It drives me crazy, like I need to lash out back at them.

Japan-freak-LEB In reply to Japan-freak-LEB [2008-12-17 00:51:09 +0000 UTC]

SilverCoins In reply to Japan-freak-LEB [2008-12-16 22:20:03 +0000 UTC]

*cocks head* But why does it bother you? I mean, you don't even respect them, do you?
Surely, if you loathe them so much, their condescension should be encouraging. It means you're very far from being what they are, or what they want you to be.

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

SilverCoins In reply to Japan-freak-LEB [2008-12-15 03:01:41 +0000 UTC]

So are a lot of non-religious people. Though, of course, I do understand what you mean. It's just something I feel I would be prepared to tolerate if it made them happy at only that little inconvenience to the rest of us.

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

SilverCoins In reply to Japan-freak-LEB [2008-12-13 22:34:55 +0000 UTC]

Why, yes, that was my point.

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

SilverCoins In reply to Japan-freak-LEB [2008-12-13 13:52:28 +0000 UTC]

Yep. Common missionary behaviour: go after the weak of mind, body, or both.

It may of course be discussed whether this tactic hails from a wish to save the weak, or from a wish to extend the faith without too much hard work. In this particular case, I'd say it's the latter.

SilverCoins In reply to Japan-freak-LEB [2008-12-12 22:16:23 +0000 UTC]

*wink* Now you're getting it.

I just thought the natural thing for them would be to gang up. Packs, and all that jazz (humans and wolves alike).

Poor Cas~? *amazed* This is indeed a breakthrough.

And I'm assuming that was a rhetorical question. *raises eyebrow* I'll tell you it's a good guess.

*stops* Really? *leans closer to check* But it's really quite pretty, you know. Oh, and I'm sorry about the t-shirt. When I'm at home, I don't really bother to put on something that isn't see-through.
