I don't know who the character is but I'm interested - is there any practical purpose to the first fingers not being covered, or is it just cos it looks cool? They do look good, I was just wondering

This particular costume is bit out of the norm. It's based of a single running doujinshi that my friend owns.
My guess is that the artist thought it look cool. I stumbled into a couple of small advantages while wearing them (opening soda cans, writing, smoking) but I don't see the creator putting all that effort in such a small detail with very little image shots.
