Quite fantastic - something about this style just draws me to it. I should look into doing something like that myself.

Nice looking elegang mask. I have the same problem cutting thedges without burrs. Curling the edges like you did helps conceal imperfections. I am going to try burnishing the edges with tragacanth. Good look.

a woodburner will clean your edges whenever u need them to be if u run it along slow and sideways on a rounder long metal point (: These kind r so cool when u take the time to get them all cut out right and curved after they kill your hands from it all (: I have one mask i did kinda like that- and it was like, "omg, ow" once i salted a mask so much and was in too much hot water that it shattered like glass, so... don't use salt unless u have to bc your thing isn't holding shape(: I just dust salt on the back for 5 mins. and brush it off again while the back of the leather is kinda damp. but mostly not anymore unless it's something big and weird shaped..... Mink oil sounds super-fancy!!! I guess it conditions the leather so it stays nice ? that's awesome.. i want some ... bc u know u want these things to live forever bc your hands ..won't (: ANyways~ butterfly creature is beautiful... i know how hard they r to get right so gOOD freaking JOB !! (: it's funny bc now u can add like a million different accessories or ribbon colors- and my similar cut thing is also it's main color w/ no ribbons still b/c i froze up and was like... i'll add some stuff later (: ~this still looks great...u could totally leave it be, also (:

Thanks for the woodburner idea.. I even have one hanging around somewhere I bought years ago! I have never heard of dusting salt on the leather. I am building up callouses on my fingers from shaping! In some situations I use pliers to get a really tight crease. The mink oil is used on everything from shoes to jackets, to keep leather waterproofed, and it makes it a little softer without ruining the shape.
I usually do add ribbons or beaded leather thongs for keeping them on, I just haven't got them added yet to these ones.

This is very well done. Because you curled them in it is hard to tell if there are any sort of burrs along the edges of the mask. This is the same view anyone looking at the person who is wearing it would have so that is cool. I think all the lines are clean and consistant and the painting is also smooth and clean looking.

Thank you so much for the feedback. Would it be helpful to also post back views of the mask? Or is this not a particular worry?

I personaly would love to see it from the standpoint of someone who works in leather. How people finish the back of the work is often a point of curiosity for me. I don't post the backs of my masks currently but I have been considering doing it for some of my "main" masks. I did show the back of one of my hair pieces in my gallary.
