The stitching turned out quite nice as did the natural tones. One could do a fair number with this...

I love the stitching. It really adds an element. The forming is also very well done. I am a fan of the lines caused by the pooling of dye but not so much a fan of the spots where that pooling is a dot of collected dye rather than a river/line of more concentration. I would probably mop those up before they dried. ( example the dot on the forehead ridge and the dot of solid dye on the ridge under the eye look less "intentional" than the run lines on the beak.)

Hm.. I see what you mean about the "intentional". I mixed the dye with water and then sort of let it do what it wanted. I will have to make another and keep it from pooling.

It is really a beautiful job though. I looked at your other pieces and the deliberate nature of your experiment is evident in the difference from your other pieces. Over all I love this!

I was initially planning to add feathers, and I am going to Michaels tonight to see if I can scrounge up some and see what happens!
Unfortunately, because I finish the edges by curling them under, I'm not entirely sure what that'll do for affixing things. Definitely something for me to consider for future pieces!

I like it without feathers. Or, if you did add feathers it would be sort of neat if they were broken, twisted, or otherwise frayed. Perhaps soft strand feathers with elmers glue rubbed over them to make them clumpy and twisted in deliberate ways. ( ok I am over-thinking this now.)
I think the stitching and uneven dye pattern add to the creepy factor and I would hate to see it "softened". No adding glitter either... lol
