So this project is done finally. It's a commission-trade for a friend.

These are bracers based off a mermaid design for someone's character. I built them entirely by hand, starting with the bracer base. The fins were built onto the base, and then scales were riveted down individually (or in pairs since they're double layered the whole way through). The dye job was a bit of a nightmare because I was going for a semi-iridescent watercolour look with a colour I didn't have (and thus had to mix). Overall, I think it turned out great. The purple-blue is beautiful, and it came out with variation all over the place, which is just awesome looking. They were then finished off with a nice leather sheen to help seal in the colour and give them a bit more durability. The fins also have the veins tooled in and defined with a shading stamp.
