Hi Joseph... Thanks... Believe it or not it's the(older) standard a200 kit 75-300 F4/5.6(before they replaced it with the 75-200 kit).

It's pleasantly sharper than I expected at almost full zoom.

You mean the (replacement is the) newer DT 55-200?

Yes - I would be too if I knew it was the old 75-300. But it seems that the quality only really sucks when you're at full zoom focused at infinity. Otherwise, it works perfectly

Ah Joseph.. I should never quote lenses from memory against your knowledge you are indeed correct that it's 55-200 now in place of the 75-300 which I got with my camera.

Yes it seems that when at the Infinity focus at full zoom the sharpness does deteriorate rapidly and noticeably. This shot however was from only about 6 metres away and at f5.6. I therefore seem to have a reasonable lens in that bracket.

Yup, I agree - I had borrowed that kind of lens before. Same pros and cons

Well it just sits there... you give it a toy (even a catnip mouse) and it merely looks at it, raises half a paw and... decides to clean itself
