Oh, by "vanilla" I mean his original, official design, by Ken Sugimori. And the crest is the red tuft on its head

Yes, I knew that too, but it was weird in this context: when I hear "vanilla crest", I think about some kind of easter chocolate chicken! XD
So it's a specific video game meaning?
