I AM ABOUT TO DROWN YOU IN COMMENTS!
Beautifully drawn! I love how Pocahontas' looks like leather tied at the waist, Jane's has Victorian ripples, Giselle's is fairy tale -y, Mulan's is practical, and Esmeralda's mirrors her canon dress.

Beautifully done. Esmeralda is one of my favorite disney characters. HBND is one of the best movies Disney's ever done.

Clever touch in throwing a ribbon belt on giselle's dress. Esmeralda should be carrying a scarf, in my opinion.

I looked at these and could only recognize pocahontas and Esmeralda. Mulan i had no clue who it was, Giselle, I thought it might be her, and Jane, I had her and Belle as the possiblities. i loved hunchback of notre dame, I have it on video..... I think, we may have lost it or that might've been the one that stopped working.
I like them.

I agree, I really hate that Disney seems to have forgotten Hunchback of Notre Dame.
Anyway, I like the sleeves on Esmeralda's dress.

Thanks, it was an update from her last dress, which seemed a little too much like a black version of her old dress

How can the latter be ignored, it's one of the best movies out there and I love Esmerelda's character. Not to mention HBND has one of the best and most complex villains ever, Frollo.

I know, and I love HBND, unfortunately Disney doesn't feel the same way. I used to work for them, and HBND isn't something they look back on fondly. Despite how good it is, it is also their darkest film, which turned off alot of the audience. It didn't make a lot of money, and I because Frollo was such a grounded villain, it didn't hold well with the lowest common denominator. Also, it's doesn't have a lot of merchandise opportunities. At most I remember an Esmeralda and Phoebus figure, as well as a costume, but even that was bashed for being suggestive(considering she used in what alot of people consider to be a faux striptease/poledance.)
I mean even with the VASTLY different trailer it still didn't gather an audience(seriously, look up the old trailer and tell me how it compares to the actual tone of the movie). At most, if Disney is ever going to look back on it fondly, you'd have to go to one of the parks and raise hell at customer service. They always write down how many people complain about such and such and base their decisions off that.

Bah, they make a proper film and they don't like it?
Although, ironically, in some ways it's darker than the book it's based on. I mean, in that, Esmeralda was only going to be hung, in this, she's nearly burned to death.
It has everything, drama, humor, romance, comedy, everything I tell you. It maybe dark but people love that, they love how risque it got with Frollo and that song (I love that BTW)
So, it's their loss I think.

They make a proper film and didn't like it because it didn't make more money.
As for the original novel, it's interesting because Hugo was making fun of the whole knight in shining armor, rue love conquers all cliche, while the movie just runs with it(not that they didn't do it well)
And sadly its because it was so risque that it didn't sell well. Once word of mouth let it out that there was a pervy priest in the movie, less people went to see it.

Heh, yeah, everyone either ends up dead or in Phobues's case, married, a fate worth than death, lol.
Funny, people forget he wasn't technically a priest, but a judge who thought himself very reglious, I know in the book he was but they changed it in the film because it wouldn't be very PC.
But I loved how he was trying to explore why he felt the way he did instead of just saying, I want her, end of.

yea, thats why I love frollo so much, he had so much development. But the general public(read morons) doesn't like that. Some prefer some stupid, mindless crap(just take a look at the box office numbers)

Yeah I know, which means Disney dumbs down there villains and turns them into Captain Hook or Radcliffe.

its interesting though, because Pocahontas was planned to be Disney's magnum opus. All the money they made from past films was going in to that one...Hell The Lion King was just a little moneymaker to fund Pocahontas. In fact, the animators working on Pocahontas actually teased the lion king animators. According to them they were working on something big and serious, and that no one's going to care about "some dumb musical with talking animals". Ironic isn't it?

It certainly is. I did like Pocahontas but it was never my favourite. And funnily enough, when I was little, I knew it wasn't accurate because I had a story that told the real story. It was cartoon but it was full of real facts, meaning I knew Pocahontas was meant to be about 12, instead of 18-20.
Heh, I really love the Lion King, I think Disney can be proud of that one. It was very emotional when Mufasa died and I love all the songs. My favourite song of all time is actually one from the musical, called Shadowland. It was about Nala leaving home and is brilliant.
I actually wish they explored more why Nala left in the film, in the musical, it's partly because Scar is hitting on her, that would have really added something.
And you know the thing about HBND? I know all the sexual over tones are obvious now but not when I was little. I just thought Frollo wanted to marry Esmeralda. What an innocent mind.
So imagine my shock when I worked out what all that meant. lol.
