Water B Magic Class: Week 1

Lun stared straight ahead. Since she found Skaven City she tried to learn the local language. She was able to communicate somewhat with this little Skaven skittering around in thousands through the big tree they made their home in. But this?

That old and angry looking rat, who seemed to be the magic teacher, was yapping around without her being able to understand a word. He sounded very different than the other Skaven.

Lun shifted her weight a bit to the other side, her butt firmly planted on the ground with her front legs leaning on a stool not in the slightest fitting her form, while she scratched her chin, still listening to the unknown sounds the teacher made. He waved around with a book and a stone, which she had on her place as well. She felt something on this stone which she guessed was magic as this was a magic class - and what else should she feel on a stone without even touching it?

As the yapping of the teacher ended she took that stone into her hands, looked at it, felt it with her soul. She felt a connection to the gem inside her chest, who hold on to her soul, binding her into this body and into the world. Since the very second she appeared in this world, she knew that it was some kind of magic. And as she closed her eyes, fully concentrating on the stone, she could feel it even more. The magic of this world, all around her, concentrating inside of her and in this stone. And the stone... She felt the magic in there was... organized. A rune. This was this worlds runestone. The magic was different, but the concept was the same. She tried to feel what this runestone was able to do, how it would form the magic. Ether. That's what the Skaven called the magic here. She could feel cold, a freezing sensation tingeling on her fingers, spreading---

A touch on her arm. She opened her eyes and the feeling of magic faded as her concetration shifted towards the little Skaven by her side. It was tiny and though it had six limbs, it didn't seem to function like a centaur. It held a paper in its paws, showing her drawn... instructions? Explainations? The paper showed the runestone, a blue drop - probably water - then... different shapes of ice. So they used this runestone to freeze water? It would fit what she felt when she inspected the magic of the runestone. A quick glance around showed her that the other stundents indeed tried to freeze the water of their bottles into more or less specific shapes. She looked at the picture again. Icicles, little round balls, snowflakes, a sheet of glass... or ice?

Lun was now confident to know what the task was about and patted the little Skaven on the head, smiling a bit. Cute little creatures. She then grabbed one of the bottles, the runestone still in her hand, and got up, standing tall and strong. She again concentrated on the runestone, felt the freezing magic ready to take form, connecting to herself, building up in her jaws - instincts kicked in, she opened her fangs, her heartbeat feastening, and a wave of euphoria washed through her body. The world was crystal clear as a jet of frost shot out with her breath, freezing the water she splashed around into a chain of icicles. This moment seemed to go on forever as the time stood still for Lun. She was breathing ice! Like a real dragon! She wasn't just using magic or runes, she was using magic through her breath!

Then the moment was over and time started to flow normally again. Gravity pulled at her icicle chain, threatening to shatter it on the ground. Her arm shot forward and she carefully catched the ice she created, putting it onto the table along with the empy bottle. Then she stopped to catch her breath. It had been good to follow those Skaven and take part in this class. Hell yeah, it had been totally worth it to spend years and energy into traveling into this world. With a new rush of energy and and excited growl she turned to continue the task, to understand this magic her heart felt a connection with. Und thus she spent the rest of the class indulging into the training full of determination.
