Usually I just erase the ends to make it sharp or just draw the strokes faster

Illustrator draws with paths and you can extrude the line around the path for 1px, 2px, 3px, 4px, ect. This means that it extrudes around the ends, too so you get blobby ends.Β

I would recommend Illustrator, Photoshop and Paint tool SAI

The last two I have absolutely no experience with

If you use a mouse to draw, I HIGHLY recommend Illustrator, as it has a auto-smooth for drawings.
