This is really beautiful! I just love the carefree sense of motion here chasing after the butterfly.

Also, this reminds me of a webpage I found on Florida Nature on the fulva red fox subspecies of the Eastern U.S.

...because most of the page concerns pictures of a red fox going after a butterfly. In fact, those are the only fox pictures featured! That, plus some taxonomic information.

from the page: "This is the same fox as in the above photo. To its surprise, the butterfly was still alive and quickly took flight after playing dead on the ground for a few minutes. Startled and appearing quite excited, the fox quickly chased after the fleeing butterfly again." So I'd say this definitely does happen.
