For millennia, Arceus, the supreme god of the Crossverse and several other universes, tolerated Beerus' lazy personality. For all this time, Arceus tolerated the almost zero commitment Beerus has had as God of Destruction.

However, the death of Merus, an angel, and how Beerus did nothing to prevent this, was the straw that broke the camel's back, deciding to go to Beerus' Planet, wanting to talk to him. The mere presence of Arceus frightened Beerus, but what terrified him most was why he was there. If Arceus took the time to come to his planet it was because it was something very serious.

Arceus came to reprimand Beerus for doing nothing to prevent Merus' death. Telling him how he had tolerated his lazy personality and his almost zero commitment as a god of destruction for millennia, but no more. Arceus came to give Beerus an ultimatum...

Either he takes his role as God of Destruction more seriously, or his title and powers would be taken away from him and given to someone who could fulfill that role better.

Beerus, almost on the verge of a heart attack, nodded at Arceus' command.

But before leaving, Arceus had one last message for Beerus.

: I, The Light , Vice , and other gods of the multiverse have been talking, and seeing what has happened with both Janemba's we have decided it was the best... Beerus. Start selecting your 20 fighters. The Tournament of Power will begin very soon. When will it start? Time will tell. But it will be very soon.
