Description Here is a redone version of page 5 (the old version being the first page I did in this story). Comparing it to the new pages I've done, it looked too sketchy... so I decided to re-draw it, and update the dialogue a bit. Hope you like it... and click the link above if you want to check out the old version

PS: Who can tell me when the Hulk was actually called Mechano the Clown? It's true... you didn't imagine it

UPDATE 21th March 2014:
Added old school colours just for fun.

Must’ve been hard for him to get work after not being in continuity with the Transformers anymore.

The Mechano thing is from Avengers, Volume 1, number one!

Hulk was hiding with a circus, juggling elephants among other things.

It's fair to say that after how pissed off Deaths Head got with the Doctor (slyly refernced here) a conversation with Hulk may be more of his level. Or not so much a conversation as a huge bar fight. Either way, me likey.

I love this! Death's Head is possibly one of my favorite characters now after collecting his stories in Transformers and his own self titled debut. I really wish they hadn't had him get assimilated by Death's Head II but this comic is great! I remember when the Thing punched Death's Head through several walls and he just got up none the worse for wear. I look forward to more of this, keep up the good work! Oh and I wish I could draw this good.

Love this stuff Si. I think the slightly rougher inks really give it an edge, nice greyscale work too. You should definitely do your vampire strip in this style.

Cheers Dylan! I'm going to experiment with various styles before I decide how to ink my Vampire story... but this is a style I'll keep in mind. Thanks man... hope all is good with you

Fantastic job as always Simon - this page is perfect, but I loved even the old "sketchy" version, it was full of energy, and the lineart reminded me both of Geoff Senior and Sal Buscema

Thanks Guido! I decided to re-draw this page to fit in with the tighter style of the newer ones. Thanks for the comparrison to Sal and Geoff's work... they are two of my all-time faves

How are you anyways? Hope all is good with you... what are you working on at the moment?

Yeah, I understand your choice
Anyway all is okay Simon! I'm working on TF stuff... what else?

This is really, really nifty. Your art has a style all its own, yet it manages to evoke the old-school Buscema era of the Hulk to tremendously nostalgic effect, and the central idea of the story is extremely clever too. (Seriously, if this comic has existed in the 70s, how cool would it have been for the long-haul readers to see all of Death's Head's future knowledge slowly come to pass over the next 40 years?) I'd absolutely love to see more of this!

Thank you! I'm writing this story so as it could actually have existed in both characters continuity... so it's up to the reader if they want to consider the story as canon. As a fan of both characters, I'd personally like to think that so

Seriously? Okay. The Hulk's past history isn't something I'm good with other then the standards.

No worries... the Mechano thing was something that happened waaaaayyyyyyy back in the sixties (before even MY time!!). And I'm ancient!!

Mwahaaa! Yeah!

The Hulk posed as a robot in the Keibler Circus to escape capture after he was duped into causing a trainwreck by Loki.

Oh I don't know about brutality before the second punch....

so the last bit of narration seems over-much at this point in the tale.

If it was later in the story, after a few punches have taken place on panel, and presumably a few off-panel and in-between panels, it would make more sense.

So where it is right now, it's kinda choreographing the story wayyyyy too early.

Says I.

I don't know.... one punch off the Hulk, and it's all-she-wrote for most people!

Can see what you mean though... I'm still learning as far as writing goes, but am having fun doing it

mightybluespider In reply to Simon-Williams-Art [2008-10-15 17:36:34 +0000 UTC]

Well, yeah. Generally if someone takes you out with the first punch, it's called "cool, effective", "fire-and-forget", etc.

If he pounds on you after it may not be necessary, that is brutal. Is Hulk a brutal opponent? Sure! Would an opponent get the impression after the first punch? Well, you're learning, so I'm not condemning, just critiquing.

If you weren't learning I wouldn't bother condemning anyway.

Again, I appreciate the critiques... I'm enjoying writing, but like everything it's a learning experience. What you said helped, and I went back and re-wrote some of page. I honestly feel it works better now... what do you think?

I've updated the text a bit.... I think it reads a lot better now, and fits in more with the previous pages as well. Hope you like it
