Speedpainting. 2½ hrs. I guess it worked out pretty well considering I don't usually do backgrounds. It's supposed to be someone astrally projecting, not a ghost or Dr Manhattan or whatever.Here's a mixtape with the music that inspired me to make this: [link]

Hmmm, it's interesting that you call this 'Renewal' because it seems to have a powerfully (Best believe I feel like a douche for describing stuff as 'powerfully'anything XP)lonely and desolate kindafeeling to it. I also get this kind of lost feeling from it. (Needz more Spongebob.)
I really like the way the snow's spreading out from the figure- it almost looks like he has snow wings there. Did you use a filter for that? The background looks really nice- especially that big ol' cloud of smoke at the back. Dunno if it was your intention, but that light in the window draws the eye away from the astral projection a bit.

Well, to me painting it had a redemptive, renewing nature to it. Especially while listening to that Fuck Buttons song - somehow their music (at least their second album, the first album has a darker sound) evokes the feeling of flight that I sometimes experience in dreams, so while just listening to it the image of someone flying over a desolated industrial landscape, soaring over their circumstances, came to mind and inspired this picture.
Though I have toyed with the interpretation that maybe this isn't just a normal person in this picture. Maybe it's a god. Mainly that idea's been inspired by the title of the Moby song in the mix I've made for the picture. The picture shows a place just moments before it's renewal, before it's (re)creation.
"Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light."
The blue glow around the figure was made with a special brush, no filter though. The snow however I applied a Radial Blur filter on.
I didn't intend the light in the window as an eyecatcher, just as an indication that even though this place looks so desolate, there still is life. Whether it's the only life and that person inside there is the one we see astrally projecting, that's up to your interpretation.

whaaat, no! You're not weird! I'm really glad to hear that a picture I made is open to interpretation, I very rarely create a picture where I set that as a goal, but I always highly value pictures that "let you create your own stories".
