A nice feature. Interesting to see several portraits in one feature.

Very nice work to get that quick sketch, that red pencil is where you corrected the ear? Whatever the case, I like this version of it--looks like you actually had her in the room and were painting from that.

Thank you. I don't remember exactly if I corrected the ear with red line. Mostly I correct a lot of things. Did you compare this drawing with the scratch?

Thank you for your comments. This one is sketched from life and then edited and colored in Corel Painter. That is what I like to do. You can find the original drawing with my scratches.

love how you imply the details and dont literally put them there, thats something i have yet to master. of the 3 you put up i cant decide if this one or the third one is my favorite, this one has so much color in it....

This is absolutely terrific work. I love the bold colors you've chosen as well as the cross hatching that makes up the woman's skin and hair. When it come's to the woman's figure herself, I wouldn't change a thing - your shadows, highlights, and proportions are all excellent, and I love that some areas of her face are blended but others have visible brushstrokes. It's really a very interesting touch.
The background on its own looks interesting, and while I do like the hatching of different shades of green, I think having rendered it the same way you've rendered the woman actually detracts from the piece. It all gets a bit too cluttered, and a nice contrast between the loose hatching of the woman and a smooth, blended background would really bring a lot more attention to her.
The hat also looks a bit off. At first glance, the blue band doesn't look to be drawn evenly. When I really look, I can tell that this is just where the hat has just folded up, and perhaps if you darkened that area and made that a bit more obvious to the viewer, it would not look unnaturally curved. This is my only technical problem with this piece - everything else is very accurately done.

Yes I tried to do that. There are so many options and it is hard to make a choice.

this is absolutely amazing
i know how hard it is to draw a face with a strange shape. just like when you sketch someone with a big body

Thank you for the compliment
But who does have a normal shape?
To me big bodies are not by definition harder to sketch than slim ones.

This reminds me of the works of Helene Schjerfbeck. Also, it's nice to see that the model is from real life, elder and seen life. It might be that even artists these days are preferring the younger models and subjects to picture instead of picking something a little older and not mainstream.
It is also interesting that this is actually digital art. It is fascinating how the technical things have improved in the latest ten years.

Thank you. I did not know the name Helene Schjerfbeck but when I saw images of her in Google, I recognized some of them. Very nice and moody.
