Description So i'm very proudly a follower of Wicca, i have learnt ways of buddhism, some taoism, and also i look into other world faiths often.
It strikes me that there seems to be some confusion in the world as to what a deity should be, and people are finding themselves wandering in all sorts of directions at once, asking;
"where's the popcorn?"
....but it's cool, i get it.
Everyone walks their own path, and yours is just as important as mine.
May whatever deity you follow bless you this day
drawn with fineliners, ballpoint pen, colouring pencils (cheap...:S) felt pens, gel pens and a little after effects in photoshop.

Three is a very sacred number for many religions, either through adoption or just pure inspiration. It is very interesting to learn about other faiths when you aren't worried about being burnt on a stake by a mob. ^_^ Your picture is very lovely, excellent work!

funny thing about witch burnings:
famously, they only caught two actual witches and tried to burn them at the stake.
in both instances, the witch showed no fear.
both times, the witch dissappeared, laughing at the people's stupidity (for not killing them when they had a chance) from the midst of the flames.
all the other women documented as being burnt i dont even believe were the real deal.
the old tests for witches were stupid, to put it bluntly.
a true witch knows that life is but a dream, and the real fun begins afterward. this is just a faith test for the soul. ergo, no fear of death
thank you for the kind words, im so glad you enjoyed my picture.

ah, but only about the important things...eh?
as a practicing pagan spiritualist with buddhist and hindu leanings, i feel that christians are in fact the demonic force they are actually warning us about.i mean, they tell us to beware betrayers and violent people, yet burn people at the stake for being healers?
they teach forgiveness, yet do not forgive anything.
sad. very sad.

The first few lines of a song I really love from Amon Amarth sum it up for me. [link]

I agree that it is very sad, and the main reason I separated from being a Christian.

and i might admit: its nit about the deitys or religion: the paths, monotheist as well as heathen polytheist paths just represent the will to respect and worship the divine what carries through everything, although we might thing, some do it better than other. If Wicca, Buddhism, or Islam - we want all the same and in its CORE, all beliefsystems want: unity so long

this has been my argument all along, that all religions tout unity and loving our brothers, yet at the same time the holy texts tell us to kill anyone who doesnt follow our faith....
i was mainly trying to capture the grandoise scale i see these sort of images at, to give people an idea who have never known earth religion to make them think
i love drawing such images, so pure and pretty
have a wonderful day!

lol dont know how that one slipped you by,
im very outspoken about my beliefs... the sciences, mythologies, the propaganda and aggression of world religions.. or maybe just their followers.. perhaps i havent harrangued you yet about modern society? lol
i usually only try to open peoples minds if they are asking in some way for guidance. i always got the feeling you knew exactly where you are in the world.
that said, if you ever want to talk about the grander scale of the universe, feel free to note me and we can chat sometime if you like
of course, i dont doubt you could teach me many things also. i am but a young fella.

You could do with joining some of the discussions in our house as I have five children, a couple of whom are very scientific and closed to any thoughts about religion or anything "supernatural" and the rest of us are really open-minded. Were you brought up with any religion in your life as a child?

simonpark81 In reply to AnnMarieBone [2012-11-13 21:55:23 +0000 UTC]

lol where to begin... my nan wanted me baptized, and demanded i AT LEAST read a good portion of the bible before making up my mind. unfortunately for her i was raised next door by her daughter, a single mother of two unruly lads, who truly believes there is no such thing as god.
my brother had a demon literally approach him when he was young. about ten. he is a demonic, a worshipper of the dark side. i on the other hand found wicca on my own, then buddhism, taoism and eventually even got back to reading some more of the bible with a truly open mind.
i view self as a religious paradox. god and i have unfinished business, and we're gonna have some serious words one day, but i love him/her/it and this creation we have. i dont however agree with christianity, as the meek only get trampled under the boot of modern hoodies, chavs and gangs. i take a more ancient stand point. on the other hand, i found myself getting more and more interested in quantum mechanics and physics as i grew up, so i have been learning too how the energies work, how dimensions are plausible as an explanation of heaven, nirvana etc... and of course how the observer effect throws the whole thin out of the window.
do you know of the observer effect?
also known as the measurement problem?
scientists found that particles are only solid when being watched by a sentient being. otherwise they sit as a potential, a waveform, with no real mass whatsoever.once observed by a living thing however, the particle solidifies.
this takes us right back to ancient philosophy, with the question:
if a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it, does it truly make a sound at all?
i think i would enjoy a chin wag with your family.
mine never want to talk possibilities, only problems.
im glad i have my in-law family, they are more wise

How interesting! My husband and one of my sons, are physicists, so I am familiar with what you are saying and I am really drawn to "String Theory" and the interconnectivity of the universe. I was brought up as a Catholic, and really feel I was brainwashed as a child. My husband was brought up with no religion at all in his life, so finds it difficult to even contemplate the idea of any sort of god. I do believe in karma too and I'm always conscious of trying to make the right choices in life.

simonpark81 In reply to AnnMarieBone [2012-11-15 00:23:13 +0000 UTC]

it sounds like you got all your spiritual bases covered then
physicists can be hard to tackle with spiriuality, i know, i tried once before
once you remind them that nothing really can be proven to exist, then they must adhere to the golden rule: anything is possible!
i have had many, many spiritual experiences throughout my life. im a genuine bonafide seer, and it runs in the family.i realised very early on that although i could see the ghosts and creatures wandering around, not many others could. occassionally people would say "ooh, i got a feeling of something then" and act like its a big thing, while i was too busy watching a see-through person floating eerily across the room right behind them.

How fantastic! I had an old aunt who died and said that if she could, she would contact me from the other side. On the day, I received an answerphone message which was straight out of a spooky movie, with distant voices etc. I was really scared and my husband couldn't explain it, as I had been in all day and the phone never rang. I really believe in white feathers being some sort of sign, and I have a collection now of ones that I feel have been left for me! If only physicists believed anything was possible...they really don't believe in anything unless they can prove it!

simonpark81 In reply to AnnMarieBone [2012-11-16 12:55:59 +0000 UTC]

thats wonderful-you're one of the lucky ones! if you are open to the possibilities then the answers will find you without having to try.
i had to deal with ghosts the hard way, they used to scare me until i reached eight or nine. then i figured they must be trapped in some way and started trying to help them out. nothing like sixth sense or anything, these people are barely even visible, and not gory or anything. mostly they want to be acknowledged by the living, and gently reminding them they have died and can move on works better for them. i have succesfully evacuated two seperate souls inmy life. one was in my mothers house and i was twelve. the secone was in a friends house, and it was a violent haunting. i got rid of it alone. it left me with grey hairs here and there. otherwise im cool with it. people seem to think i have a talent for these things. in truth, im just a strong willed individual who loves my race, and hate to see anyone suffering like that. to me its not supernatural, only sad. i have also met "angels" and "demons" too. as i say, the more you look for these things, the more they find you.
i can only comprehend the thought of god now because i have met angels. i know things exist without bodies perfectly happily.

it certainly gives me a different outlook on things.
sometimes i feel like el and i live in a little bubble, as we both share such experiences now, and the rest of the world is mostly oblivious.
their loss, i guess. the spirits are willing to talk to anyone willing to listen...and the more you look, the more you find.

simonpark81 In reply to Angel-Mythrael [2012-11-10 14:59:05 +0000 UTC]

it could be left open to interpretation, but the original mythologies stated that the sun is the father, the earth is the mother... it makes sense then, considering where science says the moon came from, that it was once part of our world that got broken off... as a child comes from a mother. i tried to show it by putting the moon in her 'womb' as it were

and thanks, its people like you that help me to remember everyone has equal, yet differing, visions of life.

I was confused by the sequence of names and by the "egg" in Moon's hands, which could be a child too

simonpark81 In reply to Angel-Mythrael [2012-11-10 16:02:28 +0000 UTC]

you're very correct! i wasnted the egg to symbolize how the sequence carries on, with birth coming from these planetary bodies into nature and creatures

simonpark81 In reply to Cordeiliah [2012-11-10 15:01:19 +0000 UTC]

mother earth, father sun, the moon is a child by planetary standards.
the earth pre-dates the moon by millions of years

i suppose if i wanted to be pedantic i could say you, the viewer, is in fact the child of the image, as we all are born only of earth and sun, with the particular gravity given to us by the mighty moon.
without the light, gravity and magnetic dynamics of this particular planet we could not exist ...
