Tips for tile character backgrounds... I only suggest that after you Offset them, make sure you Offset it in a way that when you fill in the spaces, it looks even. Sorry, that's all I have.

There's a tutorial somewhere about how to do it but it might be on tumblr, I can't say for certain. It's how I learned how to do it.
