An update to DeviantArt will now take a while since you have reached the current position in the story present on tumblr. The split for Single updates to long pooled comic is fairly even (21 - 17 as of writing) so I'll see how well this one is received, and then try doing individual posts. Time will tell!
Welcome to Ponyville is made in Adobe Photoshop CS5.5 and Adobe Flash CS5, with SAI being used in the final panel.
I don't own ponies, as much as I wish I did. They belong to the magical Bro of Has in the sky.
Also sorry if there is any confusion with the awesomesauce project known as "Welcome to Ponyville", it is just such a simple title and it seemed applicable (at least for this chapter in the story)

That is the idea. She is talking so fast without breathing that it just goes over Colgate's head. It was a design decision.

To describe thing as apt it is appropriate or suitable.
So Heartstrings, emphasis on strings and Lyra's cutiemark and string instruments ability to invoke emotions of the heart (in heartstrings) make both her name and her talent perfect together.
Plus music can be said to "Tug at the heartstrings"
