i bought this 2 years ago, or was it a year ago along with the dvd. i love the classic feel it has going on. you did a great job capturing them. the gray wash appeal is right on; it gives the pic a nice motion. have you gone to school for any art training?

Thanks. Rex Steele's a bunch of fun and Bill Presing's art is pretty jaw dropping, especially his sketches. I graduated from SVA in '98, where I studied animation. Yourself?

No prob. Yeah, I met bill and his buddy that did the animation. They both seemed to be energized, and if defintely comes through into the characters. That's great to have graduated animation. I am self taught. Not by choice. haha I'd have loved to have attended and Art Institute, if I had the income.

School's always nice, but not really needed to actually work professionally in my opinion. A lot of my co-workers never studied animation. I think you really learn more on the job than you ever do in school. Having the time and money to study, sketch and paint would be awesome though!

so true. I wouldn't change anything from what I have been through. I think that's made me stick it out.

Oh yes, I have heard a lot about this...I still need to do some more research on it though, but I am sure its a great graphic novel.

You so got to tell me how you get such lovely lineart, Kim! That is just amazing, I am surely guessing brush pen, but it might just be india ink *so perplexed* I hope you have been doing great!!!

Ugh, inking is the bane of me and I always get overly anxious about it. I've been using brush pen lately. Every so often I take a stab at using an actual brush and ink, but mainly when I want to get a sketchier look since I can't handle it as well.

Yep, ditto AlanaHikari's comment. Of course, I expect nothing less of you, watching from afar and knowing some of the places you've been. You deserve every moment.

I think the best comment I can leave here is that your "realistic" cartoons are every bit as good as your "surreal" ones. Fantastic, classic, pinup style, and very much in keeping with the chosen theme, but then, you already knew that one.

Many thanks for that. I sometimes worry that I won't be able to pull off different levels of "reality" in my stuff. Mind you, this isn't very realistic at all, but it's more than my usual. Something I must practice at.

This is funny and cute. Your inking and shading are great, and her pose and facial expression really show her personality. The lipstick marks on the posters and doll are a nice touch too.

Thanks. The creators said people kept joking they should make little Rex dolls like that after they saw this picture.

Nicely done, I'm way liking the style. Something about the larger than life heroic proprtions and subtle gray shading gives this a real World War Two feel to it. Pose and compostion look top notch as well, I'll be certain to keep an eye out for "Rex Steele" next time I'm out. 'Til then, keep up the great work!

It's a fun book, especially if you like larger than life old style hero comics. The original character designs are geared towards that style also, so it was easy to be inspired.

I dunno the charries, but I LOVE the drawing-- she looks so evil, but so, so... *Laughs* I'm not sure what. ^-^ But this is amusing, and rather cute, and beautifully done. ^_^
